seadog
Works well does vacu-forming, eh? Oops! I mean plunge moulding... simpler than vacforming! Think I'll give it a shot next time. Enjoying the build!

longshanks
Slow progress being made on what will probably be a test bed/boat Fraser, you didn't tell me that moulding the hull was the easy bit Cutting to size, even gluing plastic that's only 0.15mm is a problem. To match Tamiya thin and the hull melts away.......... In the end I've left it oversize in the hope that I can trim easier when the frame is in So far Note you can see the frames through the side and for anyone who whats a ready made dinghy scrap yard Thanks for looking in Kev Edited April 27, 2016 by longshanks

Martian
Impressive stuff! Some might say you could have built the dinghy plank on frame but I couldn't possibly comment! Martin
foxy
Great work Kev. May I suggest a little closer on the ribs that support the hull. Even the scrap boats look like they could be used. Frank
seadog
Slow progress being made on what will probably be a test bed/boat Fraser, you didn't tell me that moulding the hull was the easy bit Kev Yeah, they do get a bit fiddly inside. Don't forget the little knees that support the thwarts....
longshanks
Cheers Guys Martin, now that's a thoughtful suggestion and I'm trying to think of a polite reply........... Frank, I think you may be right. Current spacing equates to 8" may look better at 6" Fraser, Oh Rowlocks !! Kev
Martian
Martin, now that's a thoughtful suggestion and I'm trying to think of a polite reply........... Don't worry about being polite, I'm quite used to getting abuse! Martin
robgizlu
Congratulations on a cracking and inspiring build to date. I've followed from afar and this has been one of the builds to encourage me at having a go at an HDML. The Dinghy looks superb - Very nice work Rob
longshanks
Cheers Rob, Glad you feel encouraged to have a go at the HDML, beautiful boat with so many variations available. What plans / scale are you using? We all look forward to seeing some pics of your progress.......... Kev
seadog
I've got some several of Lambs plans for an HDML, sheets of them. Want 'em? F
robgizlu
Hi Seadog and Kev The HDML 1/72 hull arrived today from Christian at "MTB Hulls". Beautifully moulded. I have the Lambert Ross book "Allied Coastal Forces of World War 2" which contains some plans. I'm toying with the idea of doing one of the boats converted to ketch rig sailers designed for a trip across to the W Indies. Seadog - that is a very generous offer - Yes if you have any spare/to borrow that would be very kind Rob

Building a laminated hull could be fun (?). PM me your snail mail addy. F

longshanks
Well after an enforced absence .............. Sentenced to two weeks of excess sun, drink and food in Tenerife I have managed to crawl back to the bench. Not happy with what had gone before so had another go at the dingy, so had another go at the dingy, so had another go at the dingy. You get the picture 'Groundhog Day' Satisfied Spacing better/less on ribs etc....... The excess on the transom is for holding the hull steady during fitting out Probably does not look any different on the screen but trust me its better Next job fitting out with thwarts, bottom boards (making sure your boot doesn't fit through the gap ) etc etc Thanks for looking in Kev Edited May 22, 2016 by longshanks
