MGB658 Scratch built

Recommended Posts

That's some fine work going on there Kev mate.

Maybe instead of the KW you might try Airfix's Bedford 15 HW truck from there airfield set ?.

But what ever it should be an all British affair.

Going to look cracking and no mistake.

Cheers Guys :thumbsup2:

Julian, beautiful sweeping lines from above.......... not quite so good from the side. It's reported that one skipper on seeing his new command remarked " Well that's the box it came in but where's my boat ? " lol

Fraser I'm pleased you like it

Frank. I hear what you're saying but...........

I have the complete history of this boat thanks to ' L. C. Reynolds book MGB 658 '.

Bastia was a forward operating base and had to make do with what it could get. Most of the flotillas workshops were in up cycled Axis vehicles from North Africa and were transported to each new base by TLC. Spares were a problem during the whole campaign,

Thanks for stopping by

Kev

That is very impressive Kev, that ship has beautiful lines and curves.

A bit like me really!

This has the makings of a fine diorama.

I do need something to work with though, quality abuse doesn't grow on trees you know!

Cheers Guys :thumbsup2:

Fraser - perhaps you can advise me. Do you work for peace or rates or hourly? lol

Frank - I fear I've always tended to lean towards the dark side

Martin - I'll be only to happy to set myself up as a target for your humour :analintruder:

Paul - Go and wash your mouth out, tiling is a job I'm more than happy to leave behind ...........

After a forced lay off I'm back

Starting with a bunker fuel point and drip tray

P1030565%20Copy_zpscexaogav.jpg

Drip tray from 40 gallon oil drum cut in half............ plastic tube with walls thinned down, couple of plastic strips & brass rod for handles. Played with hairspray to get rust showing through and I'm pleased with the result.

Further work on quayside clutter, still a ways to go
