Thanks for the support and encouragement guys

Martin you will always have the last word

Paul scratch building in this scale is a challenge, in the scales you work in it's insanity !!

Been working on some splinter padding

First the base of the twin 20mm Oerlikons. Tried an experiment to see if I could replicate some splinter damage (top right) , not sure what do you think?

P1030452%20Copy_zpssfsjzdoz.jpg

P1030453%20Copy_zpseniefnok.jpg

Then the chartroom roof

P1030454%20Copy_zpszsvtahcm.jpg

P1030455%20Copy_zps6rmecmrt.jpg

Follow by the wing MG position

P1030457%20Copy_zpsb6vc6chz.jpg

P1030456%20Copy_zps0yxx7aoh.jpg

Fashioned the tapered hexagonal compass stand

P1030458%20Copy_zpsytmovkfa.jpg

P1030459%20Copy_zpssz8ujkfz.jpg

Then to the front of the superstructure. I want/need to keep the block removable for ease of working, The rear clips in, to fix the front there is a general stores locker in front of the chartroom, so I made it with a push fit lid so that I can put a screw down through into the deck. Pieces either side of the box are still to be fettled in

That's all for now folks thanks for looking in

Gorgeous progress. The flak cushion damage in the first photo appears to look very good: Ragged edges and a different color for the stuffing :goodjob:

have to agree with Julian on that one Cracking stuff so far Kev

For the wooden flooring around the gun mounting will you be scoring that into the plastic or making full lats /grates :book:

Cheers Guys

Beefy Not going to score the plastic I think it will make the grain pattern to heavy in this scale. Probably should be painted but I think a bit of artistic licence is called for.... So probably natural wood in the fashion I described in your U Boat post.

Get behind me Satan, that guy has so many nice toys on his site.............

Did see one product you would really, really, really love. In fact I'm tempted to buy the first sets for you to get you going......

Just over half way down the page............

Real Rivets in 0.3, 0.4 & 0.5 mm

That will set the Cat (Tiger ) among the pigeons with a small section of the modelling world LOL

Sounds good, you didn't happen to count how many are in a pack?

20 in a pack did you count how many you need?

After a marathon session over 3 days I'm now the proud owner of eight ready use lockers for the 20mm oerlikons

A total of 208 pieces! There are only 501 pieces in the new corvette :mental:

To give myself hope I've laid on the sub assemblies on/around the hull

Thanks for the your kind comments and encouragement guys.

" that looks so good it almost wants to make me delve into the black art of floaty things "

Only almost! As Martin would say I must try harder.................

As for a Black Art coming from a guy that's builds things that float on nothing and/or belch fire and steam that's rich

Paul I notice you have built a Vosper and MAS any chance we can see pics?

Kev Yes I have built both and when I get a new camera I will post pics. Saving for something decent so may take a week or two. Butterfingers dropped and smashed the last one! Looking for something with soft focus so it can't be compared to yours

Frank If I had to guess I reckon just over halfway. Any news on the Victory?

Well I was shooting my gob off to Beefy the other day (nothing new there then, before anyone else says it ) about reproducing wood.

Here is my effort on the twin 20mm platform

Any thoughts?

Started roughing out the base, I'm hoping to do some thing along the lines of the opening pic...............

A question for you. Anyone got any thoughts/ideas/suggestions of 1/72 figures that could be modified for use as WWII sailors. Don't need helmets as the diorama will be 'At Rest'. I do however need a source of separate helmets as they were hung around the gun positions.

Your thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks for looking in
