Courageous
Hi helpful people (hopefully). As part of my ongoing Sabre project, can anyone tell me about the Falcon conversion (FNC007) in this regard. I can't find anything about what the kit contains, so I don't know what else to source. I think the kit is geared towards the Heller kit but can others be used? TIA Stuart
e8n2
It has a vac canopy and fuselage. I don't remember if it also has a new cockpit tub, but I think it does. The wing mounting to the fuselage is set up for the Heller kit. You could probably use others, but there might be some trimming and filling of areas that don't match up with the Heller kit. The TF-86s built were based on block 30 (for the first conversion) and block 35 (for the second conversion) F model aircraft. From the pictures I have in a book on the F-86, there is no wing fence and they have slats. Both aircraft initially had the short chord wing, not the 6-3 wing, and I think that Heller is the only one that has that wing. The first aircraft was destroyed in a crash, and the second aircraft had two guns installed. It was later fitted with an F-40 wing. Aero Reserach ( http://www.aeroresearchcds.com/) has an excellent reference book on making any model of the F-86 and FJ Fury. Later, Dave

Just ordered my Heller kit and we'll see how it goes. Think I'll spash some cash towards 'Aero Research' also, think that'll be very handy. Don McIntyre
Looking forward to seeing some pics of your build. It's a shame that the TF-86F didn't go into production, it just looks SO right to me...
Courageous
I have a number of Sabres to build before I attempt the TF. It has been a while since I've tackled a vacform but I'm looking forward to the challenge. If the Heller is indeed the 'short cord' then that'll how it will stay. Most of the pics I've seen show these a/c with the short cord and no guns, may still have to deploy the slats though...we'll see.
