Procopius
Finished but for the stores last night. I'm sorry to say I don't think this accurately captures the look of the real thing either before or after her preservation, but I've never been able to manage that curious faded look so many Phantoms get about the fuselage. The kit was painted with Gunze Aqueous and Xtracrylics for the main scheme, with Tamiya gloss black for the tail and Tamiya white for the gear bays. Aclad was used on the metal areas. Xtradecals, part of a Revell Tornado sheet, and the Airdoc RAF Phantoms in Germany stencils were used and in some cases adapted. As always, it was a joy to build; Fujimi Phantoms are among my favorite models to work on -- if building them could accurately be called work. I'm almost sorry to post this following a rash of great Phantom builds.
Duncan B
I think you are being unjustly harsh on yourself, she's a beauty and you've perfectly captured the mucky appearance that they acquired in service. Duncan B

KingCornetto
Dont see any issues with the paint/weathering either - looks very realistic. As with Leonl, I really should make mine too. Really miss seeing them perform at the likes of Mildenhall Air Fete. Can it be such a long time ago?

Duncan B Thanks, Duncan! I have great admiration for your skills as a modeller, and of course the fact that you worked on the type (and thus your affection for it may be slightly more qualified than mine) makes your kind words mean all the more. Very nice, inspires me to get one in the stash!! As with Leonl, I really should make mine too. Really miss seeing them perform at the likes of Mildenhall Air Fete. Can it be such a long time ago? I definitely recommend it. I've built four of the Fujimi UK Phantoms, including this one, and they're one of my favourite kits of all time. I almost prefer the earlier "low-fi" boxings to the later ones, as I absolutely hate separate flaps, but all of them are simply fantastic kits, and I went through a period of buying every one that I could find, until my wife caught me.
nimrod54
Great job PC, a lovely looking model. I bought a Whirlybirds 1/144th F-4J(UK) at Telford, I hope that I can get it looking as good as this.

Procopius
Looks like a spook to me ! get her away from the clutter and lets have some more photos please. Unfortunately there will be little strong natural light in Chicago again until about May of next year, so there's not really anywhere I can put here where both strong light and low clutter can be found. The midwestern USA is a horrible place.

Cookenbacher
PC, I've been a fan of your builds since before joining Britmodeller, and I have to say that this may be my favorite. You've definitely captured the look of an RAF Phantom in grey.
stevej60
Looks a real stunner! can,t see any issues at all, great build and finish.
Tomoshenko
That's an excellent job. The grey looks realistic, especially the wings which give it a look / feel of experience come "time served" about it, without being tatty. I struggle to make grey look interesting. Pity about your lack of lumens - more pics would be nice.
Miggers
Nice one old lad. I've only ever built one(the Royal Navy FG.1 boxing naturally)but I was very impressed with the kit and the result even I got from it.
Rob G
Looks good mate. The other great Phantom kits are the 72nd ESCI ones, very nice indeed. I have several in the stash, and one day, I will finish the 2 I have started. One fine day...
Skyhunter66
Yes that looks great and a great choice of scheme - I did the same in 1:48 recently. I also agree these Fujimi kits are superb - it's a shame they aren't more readily available. Must try the ESCI ones as well Chris

John Laidlaw
That's an excellent build! I think you got the finish spot-on as well... subtle panel lines (no 'patchwork quilt' effect), and sufficiently grimy for an in-service line jet. Very nice
giemme
Excellent build, phantastic Phantom you have there! Hope mine comes out half as good
