Evalman Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 The first week of November has seen some interesting movements at Newquay Airport. Unfortunately I missed the Italian Army Do.228 and Avanti which along with the Czech C-295 visited in connection with 'Exercise Arrcade Fusion' which is being held at RAF St Mawgan. Chinook HC2, ZA679 came in on the 30th Oct and stayed the night after developing a problem. ZH899 arrived on Saturday 1st Nov with crew and equipment to repair ZA679. ZA679 ZH899 Czech AF C-295M, 0455 Cobham Falcon 20s, G-FRAL, G-FRAF and G-FRAJ 4
heloman1 Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Great pics, thanks for sharing them. Colin
Paul J Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Nice. One of the crew members on ZA679 is the son of a chap I work with. He told me about the Chinook going tech. Hospitality by Classic Air was really good apparently. Also, I'm told, G-FRAF went tech too. 1
Evalman Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 Hospitality by Classic Air was really good apparently. I wonder if that's why there were no Pasty's left on Monday morning The Chinook crew were excellent, dragging people out of the museum (not that they needed any encouragement) for tours of the Chinooks. G-FRAF spent the weekend at Newquay so I guessing there was a problem with it.
Snitok1983 Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Civil Falcon (at least looks like) with a missile just awesome! What is it? Thanks for sharing!
Paul J Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Civil Falcon (at least looks like) with a missile just awesome! What is it? Thanks for sharing! The Dassault Falcons (alias Mystere 20) in civil markings belong to Cobham, formerly FR Aviation and work with the armed forces; especially the Navy where they simulate anti ship millies launchers against shipping. The missiles represented by Hawk T1. Others may be able to give more info on this. 1

Phartycr0c Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 In addition, those Falcons have the wings from a Mystere fitted in order to provide weapons hard points cabling for the weapons systems. Lovely clear photos
Evalman Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 Some more NATO visitors this week; US Army UC-35A Citation: Italian Army P-180E Avanti: French Air Force Xingus: 1

Others may be able to give more info on this. the pods on Falcons are radar/comms jamming equipment, some also carry chaff [ & possibly flare] dispensers depending on the tasking requirements, our hawks [736nas was fradu] act as sea skimming misslles when working with the falcons again depending on task requirements.
