1/72 Hasegawa MV-22B Osprey

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

My current build on the Revell Blohm & Voss Bv P-194 has slightly stalled as things need to be airbrushed so I thought I would start another WIP on a build I also started in Texas during my time with g-usa. I did actually pay for this one with my own hard earned cash, I think it was about $42 with sales tax. Here is the box top:

The decal sheet for this option looks pretty amazing:

There are five main grey sprues:

P1070898_zps87d21284.jpg

All very nicely moulded, there is also a clear sprue of course and some rubbery vinyl parts for the rotors and engines:

With the limited tools and materials I had, I could at least clean up a few parts and start to assemble the tail planes:

I could also glue in the rubbery vinyl bushings which help to retain the engine pods:

The rest of the tail and ailerons were also assembled:

Next the propeller blades:

All these parts needed a kiss of some filler which I could just about manage:

There were also shallow ejector marks on the main wheels which needed the filler treatment:

That concludes the historic work, this is there I am tonight. One of the main sprues is completely clear already and can go into storage. There is also a set of spare blade parts which can go into the spares box:

I decided to tackle a job on the engine pods.

The intakes would appear to be blanked off so I decided to open them up, mainly using my motor tool:

With a bit of hand work they looked like this:

Good enough given the quite hidden position I think.

Do you have any plans to drop the ramp in the rear and detail the interior?

That is a very good question Mark, I have thought long and hard about that one. I think I have come to the conclusion that it is not worth the effort. This interior is very complex and the foundation would need a lot of work - I am not sure I can face doing what I did on my Flying Banana again. It would be so much easier to close up the tail ramp. I will make a final decision when I get the Eduard PE which does appear to require the side door to be opened up.

Here is a reminder of our meet up with George:

You are both very handsome fellows.

Best Regards,

Nigel

outrageous plackyhackery

extraneous superdetailing in quidziplicate

quite alarming tales of "Wot I dunnery"?

;)

yeah the hell with it, buggerit the thing is nearly a jollycopter even if never to be a thing of beauty like a Wokka

Righto then Nigel

I'm in and enjoying it already

$42, hmm wot's that in real money...

where's the calculator in this pooter? I cant find anything these days

I guess its about £30 which is maybe a touch cheaper than it would be here. There are lots of good exterior pictures in the walkaround section but not many of the interior. There are plenty of interior shots on the web. I will post a few when I'm back home to show what I mean about the complexity of the interior.

About your belief system

I have this bridge, red it is, that needs dismantling and disposing of

If you believe Nigel can possibly leave this one, er unfiddled with, can I interest you in buying the bridge?

Quite cheap but its in the way across the River Froth

I just received notification from White Ensign Models that they have dispatched the cockpit PE today - excellent news.

As promised, here are some shots of the rather complex cabin interior:

I am not sure I can face all that.

The main problem with the kit is that it would need new side walls, floor and ceiling just to make a start on the interior:

I think I will at least be having a go at cutting out this side door with some newly acquired saw tools from Telford:

Its a bit scary but lets see how that goes.

almost as many wires pipes and doodahs as the Scout needed outside the engine ;)

No, I see no problem for you there

A simple skin of ten thou card then chat to your uncle Bob

;)

No mate only kidding

I can see there a lot of extra invisibilities there, not worth it I'd say

Nice interior pics though, nice

Do you get the feeling no one thinks you are capable of doing an OOB build? Once you start making the tiny changes, it always escalates. Be careful.

I don't really do OOB builds do I? Trying to fabricate an interior for this beast would make the build three or four times more complex and about that much longer in build time. I don't really think I need to go there. I will still see what the Eduard PE offers up though and demands in terms of interior construction.

Bye for now,

Nigel
