BerndM Posted November 21, 2014 Author Posted November 21, 2014 So, some more pics. To meet the fuselage with the underside of the wings is relative easy, fit is good, when everything sits properly and dry. 5
BerndM Posted November 21, 2014 Author Posted November 21, 2014 ....after this was dry, the upperwing parts were assembled. The fit is very tight at the leading edge. On the "all closed" option its helpful to bend the hatches for the wingroot guns careful in the fuselage direction. I missed/learned this on the first hatch, the other three went well on. 3
BerndM Posted November 21, 2014 Author Posted November 21, 2014 As said the fit is a bit tight and a small gap was at the end of the wingroot. This was closed with some stretched sprues. 2
PlaStix Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Good progress BerndM. Keep up the good work. 2
BerndM Posted November 21, 2014 Author Posted November 21, 2014 The cowling of the -R2 was later assembled, the fit of this "try out" was better. 2
BerndM Posted November 21, 2014 Author Posted November 21, 2014 Good progress BerndM. Keep up the good work. Thanks, i am on it, both kits are together, both need some sanding but nothing serious.Currently i am getting my Jagdtiger 1/72 from the bench 1
snapper_city Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Good effort so far. I have one of these in the stash so watching with interest. 1

BerndM Posted December 2, 2014 Author Posted December 2, 2014 Hi, not much time for modelling these days, but not without progress on my Focke Wulf production line. Both airframes are together, only the PE hinges for the inner wing guns hatches and the instrument panels are still missing. Some places needed some work with putty, both airframes are sanded and need some rescribing in these areas. A modeller, working much cleaner will bring this kit nearly without putty and sanding together, i guess. But i am quite satisfied so far. Here are the pics, done on my bench, sorry for the mediocre quality. 4
dazdot Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Nice work bernd I have to say I usually fix the top of the wings, and the bring the bottom up to meet leaving the main spar to find its own location I don't get a gap at the root then but that looks really good 1
BerndM Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 Sounds like a good solution too, i will try this on the next ones waiting in the stash.
PlaStix Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Good to see more progress BerndM. Hope you do find more time to work on this project - it's looking very good. 1
somnas Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Like the rest I think it looks really good, look forward to see your paint job on these birds. /Erik 1
Duncan B Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I have a few of these in the stash but haven't been brave enough to start any due to their reputation for being difficult to build. I must say that you have made them look easy but I suspect that is due more to your skills than the kit being easy. I'm looking forward to watching your progress. Duncan B 2
BerndM Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 Hi Duncan, the hardest point (for me) are the single exhaust stacks, but with some ease and no rush it can be done. The templade from Eduard works. I don t think that my skills are so high, just try the Eduard 190s out. Thank you very much for stopping and leaving a comment. The next steps are on the way. 1

Thank you very much, i hope i got more time in the next days. This evening i will fit the upper instrument panels. I hope my Fw s will be half as good than your stunning pair of Spitfires
BerndM Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 Like the rest I think it looks really good, look forward to see your paint job on these birds. /Erik Thanks for your comment,Erik. The A-8 will be a JG 5 bird, from the Eduard decal sheet, but with other correct sized crosses. For the A-8 R2 we will see, maybe a option from the Tamiya kit, perhaps Bretschneiders mount.
giemme Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Beautiful work you are doing here, Bernd. I have the Profipack A-8 in my stash, so I'll follow this with interest Ciao 1

I have the Profipack A-8 in my stash, so I'll follow this with interest Ciao Thanks you for your kind comment, good luck with your A-8, got some more of Eduards 190s in my stash, incl. a Dora 9. The decals in the A-8 Profipack look good but you need some extra references to apply the decals ( upper wing) on the right spot. On Eduards profile they were too far out to the wing tip, the fuselage crosses are wrong too. Eagle Cal has some great decals for this plane out. My Weekend A-8 will be a A-7 (Bär) or a A-8 JG 54 bird from one of their sheets

Any ideas on where to look for the correct references? Ciao 1

Any ideas on where to look for the correct references? Ciao Great idea to paint the decals on ! Still something i never did, so far. There are lots of sources about the 190. The "In Action" book is a good start and a good source for pictures. I don t know if its ever puplished in other countries, but Peter Rodeikes "Focke Wulf Jagdflugzeug Fw 190 A, Fw 190 "Dora" Ta 152 H" ISBN 3-923 457-44-8 is everthing that you need. For the correct position of the upper wings use simply the Tamiya painting guide, if its not on hand, i can supply you with that one. Cheers Bernd
One-Two Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Hi Bernd, Watching this one with great interest. The wurger is one of my great favorites...and I have quite a few of these (Eduard 1/48) in my stash. I have to say that they look quite intimidating builds for the less experienced of us. But your double build is very inspiring...excellent work so far...keep posting.. 1
LuizCarlos Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Watching them with full interest...learning a lot! Luiz. 2

I really appreciate this :-) Give your Eduards a try, don t rush and with some dry fitting, this will be nice build. If you dont like the single exhaust stacks, there is a Aires (?) replacement cowling on the market. The Fw 190 is a very graceful and powerfull looking aircraft, one of my faves too, you can t have too many.
