robvulcan
Looking good Rob, I can't wait to see this for real. Cheers Nigel, I hope It gets finished in time. In some ways it don't seem far off but I always seem to visualize a build faster than the reality.

robvulcan
Awesome.. Looking forward to seeing this one at Telford - It won't be easily missed! Nick Cheers Nick, Yep its bigger than I thought it was gonna be. I was expecting something smaller, This is a cool kit. I just wish I had the time and space to make something as big as these ones some folks have done. http://imagination-incorporation.blogspot.co.uk/2010/08/war-games-con-ruined-chapel.html Cheers Rob Edited November 2, 2014 by robvulcan
robvulcan
Does any one out there have any idea what would be the best glue to use to securely bond this plastic church to the ply wood. Its going to need to be strong and reliable. Cheers Rob
Will Vale
Rough up the bottom and use two-part epoxy?
Nigel Heath
I would also go with epoxy. Not the five minute stuff though, you would need some open time.
nick32
It reminds me of Rouen Cathedrel in France, i went there earlier this year and it blew my mind.
depressed lemur
I would also drill some holes in the base and the bottom of the walls so you can insert some dowels to add strength. Must say this is looking more impressive every time I look at the updates. When will it be ready though?? Will we be seeing it at Telford?

Yesterday I assembled and painted the bulk of the thing, Just a few gargoyles inside to paint and add and then add the outer supports, The gargoyles were fitted and then I painted it Humbrol Tank grey from a rattle can and then dry brushed it humbrol steel grey. So far its like this. Very rushed and my first building model so I hope I can make it in time. Its more work than I thought. Cheers Rob

robvulcan
Funny looking Vulcan LOL, The only link I can see is the bats wings which it is said the Vulcan B2 wing shape was often referred to as "The Bat Wing" I have now got a weird vision of a Cathedral flying like a Vulcan... Sgt.Squarehead
Very nicely done indeed Rob. Decent building kit too.....I'd imagine it's probably quite a bit more economical then the nearest GW equivalent?
robvulcan
Very nicely done indeed Rob. Decent building kit too.....I'd imagine it's probably quite a bit more economical then the nearest GW equivalent? Cheers mate, I just searched for something that looked decent and cheap-ISH. I have no idea what else is out there but I imagine there must be more. I just hope I can get it done. Cheers Rob
Sgt.Squarehead
Pegasus do some nice WWII Russian village buildings.....They might be just the thing for another test of this remarkable product. Hey.....Maybe you could get some and enter them in the 2016 Great Patriotic War GB?
robvulcan
Pegasus do some nice WWII Russian village buildings.....They might be just the thing for another test of this remarkable product. Hey.....Maybe you could get some and enter them in the 2016 Great Patriotic War GB? Sounds good and sounds a long way off. Maybe . Right then... So a lot has been done but I was delayed waiting for some more tank grey paint to arrive and thankfully it did, So the outer supports, Inner supports and a few more bats have been painted in the same manner as before, The base has had the paper tiles I printed off stuck down with 3m spray but before I did that I painted the base white. I have glued all the parts together now and started making an all seeing eye out of matchsticks and using a dolls eye for the center. This will be mounted inside at the back wall hopefully. I got some 2 part epoxy to mount this thing and hope it works. Then I can add brown paint and grass flock powder then add the snow. Nigel Heath
You are really flying along with this Rob, well done. Looks like it stands every chance that it will be ready for Telford.
robvulcan
You are really flying along with this Rob, well done. Looks like it stands every chance that it will be ready for Telford. I hope so, I have a bag of skulls I bought for it but doubt I will have the time for them. I got some 5 min 2 part epoxy as you suggested. Hoped it holds. Then I need to paint the base brown outside, then add the grass and trees if steve can help me out with some weeds as the garden has none at the moment. Then it should be time for the snow. I hope I get to make a portal and the all seeing eye. I have to teach all day tomorrow which is a sod, but have Friday off, so I hope I can get it done and have some sleep before Telford. I am yet to attend a model show well or awake yet. I am hoping to use this new type of krycel from Precision Ice and Snow there are 2 types now apparently. Thanks mate, this will be (hopefully) at the Precision Ice and Snow stall,Steve has just sent me this AWSOME video of a similar thing to what I have in mind for this abandoned church, I intend to make a video like this. (Except I can't do a CGI Lancaster) http://vimeo.com/m/105573827 Cheers Rob Edited November 5, 2014 by robvulcan
robvulcan
Ok back to this then... Will I do it in time for tommorow, I honestly don't know.. This is for inside on the back wall, Watching you, ever watching.
robvulcan
I went with Nigel Heaths suggestion of 2 Part Epoxy Resin and it seems to have worked a treat, Smells great too. The Cathedral is fixed down I have then painted out the outside and I fitted the All Seeing Eye inside at the back. I have loads of skulls I bought for this but sadly no time for them today, Maybe I will add them later. Right now getting this done to show off the snow is more important that wee adornments. I think it looks evil enough as is. Sometimes less is better I hear and Less will hopefully add to the lonely spooky evil feel.
