Another 1/48 Revell (ICM) Mk.XVI Spitfire - diorama - B&W photos added

Recommended Posts

Back in March of this year I was in the middle of some practice builds to get my limited skills ready to build a 1/48 Eduard Mk.IXc, Spitfire. One of the practice kits I purchased was this 1/48 Mk.XVI from Revell - the first 1/48 kit I'd ever attempted. Before I'd started it Dreamcatcher began to build the very same kit and luckily he posted his build in the WIP section. This turned out to be brilliant because, once I'd started mine, it became like our own mini-group build with expert advice from numerous other Britmodellers. Miggers was especially helpful - he provided both Dreamcatcher and me with loads of information plus tips and tricks to help make this kit the best it could be. Thank you Miggers.

I'd planned from the start that I'd build it with the engine on show so I purchased some Revell ground crew figures and made up a small base to display it on.

Excellent job Stix,

You built one of the most beautiful Mk.XVI i ever seen, specialy for a first try building a 1:48 scale model.

The ground crew and the details of the ground equipments are as perfects as the impressive work you done on your stunning Mk.XVI.

Very impressive job, congratulations !

I really appreciated your company during the kind of "mini group-build" that allowed me to increase my modest modeller skill and for sure to discover new tips and trics from you !

I hope we will be able to reproduce this kind of fun in a near future !

Kind regards

Pascal

Thank you to everyone for your very kind comments. It was actually a fun, interesting build throughout.

Pascal - thank you again. We'll have to try and think of a kit we'd both like to build - I think I'd like to do another with an engine to improve/display. Perhaps something from the German side?

Kind regards,

Stix

Thank you sdk_uk and Woody for your kind comments. As Kallisti mentioned earlier - a lot of the detailing for the ground crew and equipment is down to the excellent figure set from Revell.

Stix, the choice of having the engine on display has really paid off! As others said, it looks like a live scene more than a plastic diorama. Great job!
