Paul J
I too like the model. But I like the winter tiger striping in particular the D type roundels and the large individual code letter 'E'!I have built two Italeri Merlins, with another in the stash to do as an RAF one,and found both be quite nice.Never had any major issues with fit or anything. One was a Cormorant the other a Royal Navy HM1. Yes they may lack a bit of accuracy and essential detail but I can't see any one else tooling one! Unless Airfix bring us one next yer in 1/72 down from their 48th kit!! Now theres a thought....A 1/72 Junglie Merlin from Airfix on 2015...hmmm! Nice going Colin. Orion
Hello Heloman, I just did read the arcticle. RAF sad to loose 25 Merlins to the RN/RM. I am happy that the FAA is coming back in strength. Those Merlins will come in handy, by "Boots on the Ground" in the Middle East. Colin, job well done. Regards, Dirk The Netherlands.
heloman1
Thanks everyone for your kind remarks and comments. It was I joy to build and as I served as a Junglie all the more important I have one in my display. I'm sure the Junglie squadrons wil be sad to see the venerable Sea King Commandos retired but now a machine then might be more capable. If I've inspired a couple of you to build a or another Merlin then that widens the smile on my face. Thanks Colin
davepb
Does anyone have good walk-around pictures of the Merlin HC.4. Air Graphics Models are looking for source materials so they can produce a conversion kit. Any help would be appreciated! Cheers, Dave
merlin101
Only one has been delivered so far! Sure someone will take plenty of photo's at next Yeovilton air day as there will be one or more there then! There is a fair amount of differences externally between mk4 & the current AW101's 'junglies' apart from the colour!! Dave

missile-monkey
Nice one. The very best Naval Air Squadron that ever was........The best part of my formative years spent on it. Learned a lot, grew up quickly and had such fun doing it. As a side line where do you get the white ensign and 'Royal Navy' decals on the starboard side under the pilot's window. I need a few for some builds I've got planned. Regards MM....
heloman1
Hi MM, my bros shrunk them for the orignal poster I had. I printed them onto copy paper and then gave them a coat of Tamiya clear from the can. Overly thick but it worked. I think Model Art Decals has some on one of the Lynx sheets. Yep, great times indeed on 845 too, '65 onwards and on the Bulwark, then 847 late '69. If you look elswhere on BM, I did some side view fiffery schemes, just for a lark. Orion
Hello Heloman, My compliments on this "fast"but high standard build. You did put a lot of specialism into this model. Regards, Orion.
