spfparker
Blimey - The Hurricanes pictured in the centre spread of Novs AMW look a bit close!!!
Latinbear
Ah, so I'm not the only one who thought that something is not quite right. Looks like they're heading towards each other?

Paul J
The hidden one has, in odd pairs, guns blazing too... at his mate almost! Rag wing ones too.
Latinbear
:frantic:I can imagine the pilots in each of the Hurricanes thinking "What the...." too.

cmatthewbacon
....especially if you check out the wingspan of the pair of them -- the "nearer" one is actually smaller than the "background" one... My guess is that someone left a layer in their illustration that was meant to be suppressed in the final version (I think that a similar thing in reverse probably happened when the Lightning box art lost its tailplanes.) Perhaps the illustrator changed their mind about which direction that Hurri was meant to be going -- most of them seem to be coming from _behind_ the bombers... bestest, M.
dr_gn
I noticed that too. The image is changed on the 2015 calendar image: The aerial wire on the Defiant also appears to be missing on the artwork. I'm a big fan of Adam Tooby, but he does like his tip vortices... mumbles
I'm a big fan of Adam Tooby, Me too apart from one thing - muzzle flashes that don't seem to take any account of airflow. I've got to find fault somewhere!
tonyot
I`d noticed the two Hurri`s too but just assumed like others that one of them had been left in the picture by mistake! Adam has also done an excellent Mustang picture entitled `Tuskegee Airmen' which appeared in last months `Flypast' magazine but I`ve spotted two things which are a bit iffy,..... -First one of the B--17G`s which the Mustangs are escorting has just been shot down by an Me 262, BUT didn`t the Tuskegee boast that they never lost a bomber to fighters while they were escorting them,......or is this just a false statement? -Second,.....the B-17G`s carry partial i/d markings for an 8th AF bomber wing when they were actually used to escort 15th AF B-17 & B-24 formations based in Italy. I`d be very happy to hear that I`m wrong on both accounts and that the picture is historically accurate and faithfully depicts a specific combat,.....but the two things just jumped out at me as a bit iffy. I`ve e mailed Adams gallery about this but have yet to hear anything back. Cheers Tony Edited November 29, 2014 by tonyot
Paul J
I do believe your observations are quite accurate Tony and the art has gone a bit awry somewhat
