Flankerman
It's finally finished..... I've just finished it - typical Amodel, lots of cleaning up of every part, but it went together OK....The cabin windows are a poor fit, so I filled them in and made some decals....I also made my own curved exhaust pipes - the kit items are in two halves and look aweful. There is only one choice of decals (in this kit) - but they go on beautifully.Ken More.......The kit has feathered and standard props - so I used both - I surmised that they might feather the port prop when boarding.I love Burt Rutan's designs, so this new kit from Amodel caught my eye.Apart from the windows, it was a typical Amodel build - lots of fettling of tiny moulded parts, but proper modeling. It was painted with a rattle can of Halfords White Primer - followed by a top coat of Halfords Appliance White - a great glossy pure white. There are some photos of the build sequence hereKen
Smudge
That's a beauty, very nice work. Great finish. Really like the Starship, must get one. Edited October 1, 2014 by chockhead
modeltech
The Starship uses P&W Pt6 engines. They are always feathered when not running.

Alan Hooker
OMG! You didn't feather the props. Shame on you (rivet, rivet, rivet) ................................. Not withstanding that, I'lI give praise where it's due. That's a wee beauty you've built there. Bravo sir
Habu12
Not a big fan of Rutan designs, but this one looks better that all of his others. And in 3D looks even better. Good job!

Pin
Lovely model, Ken, as usual! I also made my own curved exhaust pipes - the kit items are in two halves and look aweful. Can you elaborate on that please? I stumbled on imitating these exhausts when I was building Contrail vacuform a couple of years ago, the model is unfinished partly because of that. Flankerman
Can you elaborate on that please? I stumbled on imitating these exhausts when I was building Contrail vacuform a couple of years ago, the model is unfinished partly because of that. The runners/sprues in the kit ar circular - and about the right diameter. So I simply cut off four corner pieces, drilled out the ends and cut them to length...... The cleaned-up kit item is on the right. Ken

adrianm2
Beautiful model Ken. The glossy finish is very nice. . Looking at a picture of the Mig-8 and the Beech 2000 you have built it came to mind the tale: "The ugly duckling"... Adrian
pinky coffeeboat
Nice model Ken, and well done for putting up with the Amodel moulds. It's such a bonkers looking aircraft it needs the Piaggio Avanti to go with it. Jeff

Robin-42
Beautiful job on a cool airplane. It's a shame Beech bought them all back and scrapped them because they didn't want to provide support for so few airframes. Learstang
Excellent job on the Starship, Ken! Whatever else you can say about Amodel (personally I love them - quirky chap that I am), they do some interesting subjects. I just ordered the Hs-123C (the one with the enclosed cockpit). Somehow I don't see Tamiya having come out with that, or your Starship. Regards, Jason
Flankerman
I agree Jason - they certainly tackle subjects that float my boat. I wish they would follow up their excellent White Knight & Spaceship One with a 1/72 scale Spaceship Two. I know Revell have done one - but its the wrong scale !!!
