My fellow modellers, I present my first ever model in a Group Build.

I built the Airfix Lightning F6 of 74 Sqn RAF. The only extras are a HUD from the spares box & a Model Master Pitot & refueling probe tip.

Paint is Tamiya Aluminium from a rattle can & everything else is Humbrol enamals brush painted.

The base is a bit of MDF covered in sandpaper & painted Tamiya Nato black & the model is mounted on a 6mm brass rod. I wanted to display her in a different way so instead of just on the deck, or going vertical as most Lightnings are, I decided to display her just after take off with the wheels retracting.

Let me present Flt Lt FR Ightning in Tiger Take Off.

1/72 Airfix Lightning F.2A, No 92 Sqn out of the box except for...nothing. It's OOB all the way. Oh wait, except for two tiny antennae on the spine made from thin styrene rod.

As in all other things, Flt Lt B.L. Ightning lags behind his twin brother, Flt Lt F.R. Ightning, in getting his jet completed for this STGB.

Build thread is here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234968426-172-airfix-lightning-f2a-flt-lt-bl-blight-ightning/

Please forgive the artistic license shown with the slightly dropped flaps and open airbrakes! Also the not so great phone photos.

Hello, here is my build of the Airfix 1/72 F2A, 92 Sqn, pilot Flt Lt Ian Absentia. Unfortunately, he had to vanish when the photographs were taken, and as the photographer had another appointment he is missing from the line up. He sends his apologies, but that always seemed to happen to him...

Got the Sword T.5 finished yesterday. Plastic wise not a bad build, the decals were very nice settling down too, just the instructions were a bit bobbins as to placement, particularly of the stencils. Thanks to John (Nimrod54) for the Hasegawa replacement tail emblem as the kit ones were far too big. The nose ring was replaced with the Quickboost item, everything else was OOB.

Realistically, I'm too lazy to go and take a better photo. Airfix 1/72 5 Squadron Lightning F.6, painted as a 74 Squadron aircraft, Binbrook Lightning 25th Anniversary Airshow, 3 August 1979.

Painted with Alclad, Xtracrylix, and Testor's Modelmaster Acrylics. Decals by S&M Models.
