Hi Guys n Gals,

on the 1st August 1982 (remember the days when the registrations all changed on the 1st August, and there were midnight parties to collect the bikes eh) I bought my first ever brand new motorcycle, a Yamaha XT250 and registered as YNF787Y. She was beautiful and way better than the previous older bikes I'd owned.

A few short years later she went over to my brother, after I'd bought larger bikes but she was then stolen from outside his house, never to be seen again.

Fast forward three decades and I now own several bikes, including a much more modern Yamaha XT250 but I always had a soft spot for my first Yammy.

Anyway which commuting last week I was involved in an incident in the snow, with a van, where the driver left the scene of the accident. Hopefully there's not much damage to my trusty steed and minor muscle damage to my shoulder (which should heal within a few weeks).

Whilst off work I did some searching and came across an old 1/12 scale Bandai kit of my very machine. It gets better, I found one on Ebay and the seller accepted my offer!

So that's the story of my latest purchase.

I can't wait to get my hands on it.

It must be fate.

Love it a lot.
Even when the packaging of the white metal parts are not the best.Thats one thing MFH should improve.
Also there is no parts list included.I thought i read here something about a part list?Or was this another MFH kit?

But the parts are very nice and its a manual for the frame included which was not in the box of the 917 LH i got.Thats great. And the manual also is better compared to the 917LH i got.

love it!

regards
Christian

Just found Hasegawa's Monte Carlo '77 Stratos at a bargain price locally. It was on the dusty side and I was a bit worried as to what the vital Alitalia decals would look like. Luckily they're in perfect nick and by Cartograph to boot :)

Cheers,

Will

I'm a happy chap this week, having found a couple of bargains:

a 1/24 Revell Ferrari 360 Spider in The Works for £2.50, and a Bandai 1/16 Bugatti Royale Coupe de Ville type 41 on a well-known auction site for less than £20.

I'll hopefully have the Ferrari ready for Automodellismo in May, but the Bugatti will be my first foray into the world of larger scale cars, and I'll be shamelessly stealing techniques from some of the highly-skilled builders on here to try to turn it into something a bit special.

Shiny things!

Built this one about 18 months ago.

Blinkin' awesome kit!

It really is isn't it and at $130 shipped I just couldn't pass it up. Roy, do you have any pics of your build? I'd love to see them if you do. I'm watching your Caterham build as i have one that I'm hoping to salvage after I screwed it up years ago.

just bought a monogram group 2 capri off e bay, had this kit in the 70s, dead basic kit, but i have a 1/25 amt kit to scale up for bits. got some ideas about making a group a touring car, but it will be living in the stash for a while.

Went in my local (5 miles away) hobby shop today for a couple of cans of tamiya paint and walked out with this

£20 I couldnt believe it also thrown in for a little cheaper than the sticker price I picked up a big red arrow too.

Latest irresistible bargains. The Belkits Escort is one of a pair as I bought both versions. Not sure which one will be built as per box art but the Profil 24 Ford P68 gives a clue to what will happen with the other Escort :coolio:

The Ferrari F1 cars should build up ok. I'll be getting replacement decals for both kits from Michael at Indycals.

I found a couple of Tamiya F1 cars on our local auction site - Lotus 102B and Lotus 107. Bit scared of the liveries but I'm going to try and backdate the first one into the gorgeous Camel version which should be easier.

I also picked up a 1/35 Traction Avant for $13.50 (6 pound 50) in a local toy shop. It has not hit the stash and I'm currently cleaning up parts. Immaculate fit apart from some hidden air gaps where the rear arch liners don't meet the bodywork.
