Procopius
I just bought an AZ Gauntlet II off someone on t'internet, as one does, and while doing a little research, it seems as though almost everyone who's built one has had some problems with the length of the interplane struts. My question is, was this true for any of you who built it, and if so, how did you get around it?
VG 33
I do not remember too much trouble with the struts. Patrick
Procopius
Hurrah! Looks like I'll be building the same aircraft as you, as well.
VG 33
The nicer scheme but I am not sure they actually had the stripes over the upper plane. Patrick
Peter AZmodel/Admiral
ProVG33. Beautiful work. Looks very good. Just for information, preparing a reissue of the model. Perhaps it please you.
Slywolff
Hi, I am in the midst of building this kit, I did have problems with the interplane struts on my kit they being far too short in length. I believe you can buy (or could) sets of plastic struts (Aeroclub??) I just can't think who produced them. Anyway I replaced mine by slowly stretching some sprue, keeping it thick .. letting it cool then sanding it to an approximate shape of a strut (sanding two sides if that makes sense)... not as difficult as it sounds just laborious! Hope this helps.. and good luck.

Might be faster… Kind regards, Joachim

Hope this helps.. and good luck. The strut lengths tend to be wrong on most of the AZ models I've built. Anyway, Aeroclub still sell strut stock. The packs contain several widths, but only the smallest will be suitable for this type. Easy to shape with a knife and sanding stick. Not much use to you right now because John Adams recently announced he'll be away for a while, but for future projects it's worth PMing him when he returns. What Joachim suggests is still a good method for even finer struts. You can also use it on the Areoclub stuff if you're careful. Paul.
tc2324
The nicer scheme but I am not sure they actually had the stripes over the upper plane. Patrick Quite right, there is no evidence to support this. The only pictures I have access to of a 74 Gauntlet show no upper wing `stripes`. I seem to recall I had a few problems with the struts but this was probably due to me rather than the kit.
