Ah, I think that Escort maybe the quatrroroute one? Got 2 or 3 of those! Never been able to find a Capri (& it does look nice) & never seen a Manta. Whitebox do a lovely looking 1/18 Manta A but I have no more room (or money really!) for 1/18 diecasts!

Hiya Vinnie

Revell did a 1/18th Manta Diecast, and I think Tamiya did an R/C Manta way back.

But its one of those 'obvious' holes again in IM car models. Theres a few Resins available...

Steve

To be honest I'm strictly 1/24/25 now, I've never been able to mix scales, I was always 1/72 aircraft and armour until my eyesight and coordination suffered through illness.

Good Moaning... :bye:

Chaps, Question.

With the re releases in the past couple of years of some of the Tamiya 1/12th scale F1 cars, and now the hallowed and ridiculously overpriced ebay demon, the Lotus 49, now also being re released, my question is chaps, which versions do you prefer?

People seem to think that because Tamiya are releasing them again, the old ones are now not worth the money that the muppets on ebay are demanding, which, in a sense isnt true, because they are still worth a lot, especially the Lotus.

Yes its nice to have a newly cleaned up kit, with PE and Cartograph decals, highly engineered and will fall together at the flick of a wrist...

However

They dont have that 'feeling' of the old kits, The Lotus I bought from Colin last year, doesnt even have the painting guide in the front, its one of the earliest Tamiya 1/12th F1 kits, in fact it doesnt even have paint numbers, just Black, Red, Steel etc.

I will take one of the old kits any day over the new re released ones. Some of them may be 40 years old, and yes, some of them may put up a fight. If you are used to the modern Tamiya kits, you might be disappointed, but compare one of those cars to say, an Airfix kit of the early seventies and there really is no comparison.

Ill stick to my pile of old farts in the stash... They seem to have a character all their own :coolio:

I'm with you Steve, there's just something about older kits, I recently paid way over the odds for an Airfix series 5 Corvette, its a simple kit, designed for motorization, but I love it, I had one when I was about 14 and I tell you just opening the box brought all those memories flooding back.

I`m happy be it new or old , the only draw back with the old kits which I find is tyres and decals , I`ve had a couple of 1/12 kits where the tyres were knackered - deformed and ultra soft , decals damaged and yellowed if these issues can be sourced its not a problem .
