rom1
Hello!here is my in progress build.Maybe the most impressive and big model I ever seen.I start with this huge box:I will use these addons:- Eduard 48235http://www.eduard.com/store/Eduard/B-1B-1-48.html?cur=1&listtype=search&searchparam=48325- Cutting Edge exhaustshttp://www.kitreview.com/reviews/bonenozzlepreviewbg_1.htm- Fox One Decal 48027 " Early Bones"http://www.kitreview.com/reviews/b1bdecalreviewsjk_1.htmLET'S GO!!!!First I had to deal with those huge plastic trees. They are fragile and parts are easily falling from them. So, i cut parts and packed them:OK, well... the box is big...Recycling?:bandhead2:Eduard PE sheets give you some nice parts for the cockpit. But I won't use them all.Seatbelts:Access ladder:Ejector pins... maaaaaaaaaaany of them:Some PE and... filler...Main Gear Bay:Front gear bay:Detail are very nice indeed...Now, bomb bays:I slightly reworked the bay doors.Ready for primer!Tamiya spray primer for the cockoit:Citadel Skull white for the bays:The rendering of white is not so good.Too mmuch flat/matt for me.But it is just a primer. The final paint will be done with Tamiya paint. The big fuel tank is also reworked and detailed:Some work on engines too...You have to delete thos bumps:Resin parts:Somme plastic sheet to maintain AB tunnel:Dry fitting test:A lot of work with the intakes. Surfaces are rough..filler and sanding.. again...here too:tada!!Then some work on "walls" inside the intakes:http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Defense.gov_News_Photo_110127-F-3074W-232_-_Senior_Airman_Jeffery_Wood_crawls_from_the_air_intake_of_a_B-1_Lancer_after_performing_a_post-flight_engine_inlet_inspection_at_Nellis_Air_Force.jpgDrawing with pencil:Engraving:after some cleaning work:A LOT work is remaining in the intakes...Thanks for passing by!Romain Edited March 1, 2015 by rom1

arfa1983
Looking good. Why do you use citadel as a primer? It doesn't bite into plastic at all.
Madhatter
yeah wicked! Always love to see these big Bones go together. The only reason I don't have one is because of it's size - I'd have no where to put it. Love all the detailing so far and I like your choice of scheme to - not just slab gray. The landing gear is superb too! Can't wait to see more of this as it comes along Si
SaintsPhil
Great work so far, I've always liked the look of this kit but it's just too big, 1/72 maybe or even 1/144. My Labrador (who's big for a lab) would probably only just fill that box, for about 30 seconds then he'd shred it!

DaveJL
Nice start! Good to see someone else tackling one of these. One thing you'll need to do is extend the CE exhaust out of the rear of the Nacelle by about 7mm as the Cutting Edge part is smaller in diameter than the kits' nacelle, then build up to the same level with filler. Take a look at mine http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234920978-148-revell-b-1b-lancer-oef-2012-finished/ Might give you an idea to what I mean. rom1
Hi guys! thank you for passing by! I'm sorry but anyone building an aircraft this big has to have a bigger dog than this, or maybe a pony ?Good luck with the build goodness only knows where you are going to put it when it's finished, bomb bays open as a kennel maybe ?Cheers Pat you're right ^^ In fact, it is my parents dog. And there is definitly no room for him in the bomb bays... Looking good. Why do you use citadel as a primer? It doesn't bite into plastic at all. yep... I'm not very happy with it. but it seems for now that the paint layer is well stuck. I hope Tamiya paint will be Ok on it... Nice start! Good to see someone else tackling one of these. I saw that the exhausts cover are a bit short... I thought I could use the kit exhausts to prolong those covers...

Caerbannog
Excellent! I bought the kit when a Shop in Duesseldorf dramatically reduced the first release back in the early 80's. They had a pile of about 10 of these beasts and I had quite some work to simply get this one home. At that time I did not bother with dry fitting or putty and so completition was near ahead when I decided to use Revell spray paint... I always planned to restore and still have the parts. Very much later I decided to get the rereleased boxing and the extras you use here (plus resin Aces seats and white metal U/C) but still not started. Needles to say: I will watch with great interest Rene

rom1
Hi, Here is the cockpit. Base color is Humbrol 128, stain coated with Microscale varnish. Then details are painted with Prince August Acrylics. Basic works. That will be not so visible once the cockpit is sealed. I did it in a single evening. Was fun though... Bye!! I just added seatbelts from eduard 48325. These reference gives you front panels as well, but I decided to keep the kit ones. A good choice Matt. You can still buy plenty of Eduard etch for it as well, if that is your thing. Tom. Actually Eduard released two sheets: - 48325 for interior/exterior - 48499 for the exhausts Here you have a detailled list of Bone aftermarket: http://www.small-wonder.org/Projects_Revell_B-1B.htm bye
