The next set of photos shows the construction of the cockpit . Academy didn't give any istruments or an instruments panel so i decided to scratchbuild one .

The next step was the riveting of the model . For that i used a needle and a lot of spare time .

Very nice indeed! The gunsight is a lovely bit of scratchbuilding. What did you use for the cartridge belt for the machine gun?

For the cartridge belt i used a piece of copper tape and then i cut bullets out of copper wire one by one

Looks good!

Dear Han ,

I didn't heat the needle , i just pressed the needle on the model . I do the rivets one by one and with the help of photos of the real thing or drawings that i find on the internet

Nice additions. The etch (I'm assuming it's etch) lifts the canopy detail well. The riveting also looks good.

Are there any major accuracy issues with the Academy kit?

regards,

Martin

thank you Martin . The etch is scratchbuild. Its actually a very thin piece of copper tape that i cut and glued to a piece of clear plastic . The academy kit does not have cockpit ( only some basic parts ) and wheel bays

Where do you get the copper tape from? Is it the sort of thing that you find in an electronics components shop for use as electrical shielding? It looks like an excellent material and I wouldn't mind getting my hands on some.

I have never bought this model on account of its basic detailing. I don't think I have your courage to tackle such a mission with so much panache.

I am impressed at what you are achieving.

Well done!

JR

Hi everyone ! Progress after a long time ! The aircraft is now ready for painting . I did a bit of weathering with some model master aluminium and then with vallejo interior yellow using the hairspray technique . In the next few days i will paint the camo . All comments are welcome !
