nionios_v
Hi everyone ! After a very long time i present to you my latest project . At first i thought that this would be an easy and oob project . When i started assembling the cockpit , i decided to try and improve the whole model . I give you photos of my progress so far . Thank you!!! [url=https://flic.kr/p/nNW94V]P6010230
nionios_v
The next set of photos shows the construction of the cockpit . Academy didn't give any istruments or an instruments panel so i decided to scratchbuild one . nionios_v
I painted the cockpit using gunze colours and then applied a wash with burnt umber artists oils . nionios_v
The next step was the riveting of the model . For that i used a needle and a lot of spare time . Mitch K
Very nice indeed! The gunsight is a lovely bit of scratchbuilding. What did you use for the cartridge belt for the machine gun?
nionios_v
For the cartridge belt i used a piece of copper tape and then i cut bullets out of copper wire one by one

Dermo245
Great work. Riveting looks excellent! Will you use the kit-supplied canopy?
nionios_v
Well the plan is to use the kits canopy but i've already cut it to pieces in order to show the interior
Han55Krol
Nionios, Did you heat the needle to make the rivets? And how dou you do this rivetting? Han
nionios_v
Dear Han , I didn't heat the needle , i just pressed the needle on the model . I do the rivets one by one and with the help of photos of the real thing or drawings that i find on the internet
mike romeo
Nice additions. The etch (I'm assuming it's etch) lifts the canopy detail well. The riveting also looks good. Are there any major accuracy issues with the Academy kit? regards, Martin
nionios_v
thank you Martin . The etch is scratchbuild. Its actually a very thin piece of copper tape that i cut and glued to a piece of clear plastic . The academy kit does not have cockpit ( only some basic parts ) and wheel bays
Mitch K
Where do you get the copper tape from? Is it the sort of thing that you find in an electronics components shop for use as electrical shielding? It looks like an excellent material and I wouldn't mind getting my hands on some. nionios_v
I got it from a store that sells art materials .This is how it looks like Edited September 14, 2014 by nionios_v
jean
I have never bought this model on account of its basic detailing. I don't think I have your courage to tackle such a mission with so much panache. I am impressed at what you are achieving. Well done! JR

English Electric
This looks essentially like the Frog kit but with recessed lines - even down to the stand shape and basic interior! I didn't realise they were that closely related! Chris
