World of Tanks by Italeri

First post in the forum and I hope this is the correct place. Italeri has announced 4 model kits and later 1 diorama set around popular WOT (World of tanks) online game.

Actually they are old kits reboxed. But as a WAO player there, the decal paper they come with, is a good reason for me to buy, to replicate the tanks I play there.

Have to agree Tamiya or even Dragon would have been better. Of those in WoT i have all but the Chaffee. Its a shame they dont offer some of the in game configs such as the Pak44 L/55 128mm for the Ferdinand or the howie sherman

I'd expect Zvezda (Wargaming company being Belorussian) or Revell (if I don't remember wrongly, they offered some in game codes in their standard tank kits a while ago). Italeri is not the wisest choice but it may be Italeri who had suggested such collaboration.

I drive Renault UE 57 "the rat" tank destroyer and I've already bought Tamiya 35284 + Bronco 35168 kits to replicate it. I have a "Hetzer" that I was planning to have the "Jager" written on side, as it is with my tank in the game. I had a laser cut mask for it but it was expensive and hopefully the decal set includes that white writing that I can use.

And yes, I love playing TDs there :)

I think we're looking at this the wrong way.

I see it that the target audience is WOT players. They may want to make a model of their tank now they've played the game.

We look at it as modellers who know we can get the tanks we want anyway.

Mines the Tamiya 1/48th Comet at £10!

If it gets more people making models it can't be a bad thing.

Maybe we try to tie in with the WOT team to promote our Forum!

Rick.

I've got the Chaffee (hate it) and a Sherman E8 (mostly I do German TDs). And I would think that either Dragon or Trumpeter would be the logical choice for a tie-in here, as they both have some of the more esoteric machines in their ranges.

I agree, it's a nice thing. WoT being popular, it can introduce young people into modelling and that's a good thing.

Great game, but I think its a case of jump in with anything tanky.

As most have said here, no tank of mine is there, the game may have sparked this move as its so popular.

Good luck to them I say.

foxy :coolio:

WoT is a great way to vent frustration after a long day at work. There have been a few kit's released with WoT codes - revell did some a while ago.

My Current favorites:

M18 Hellcat with 90mm

Matilda

Panther with the long 75

Mostly sniper style play, though the Matilda with my expert crew is fun - 2pdr does very little damage but has good penetration and incredibly accurate, combined with a 1.7 second reload you peck things to death :-)

If it gets more people building models it's good.

if it gets more noobs to shoot in WoT it's good.

Win Win

I've got the hellcat Peter but I don't seem to do as well with it as the Wolverine or T25/2. Picked up nearly 4000hp damage with the T25 in one game on the weekend, pummeling noob KV1 and Churchill drivers :)

Hellcat requires a different skill set - it's very much a pop-up shoot and run TD. And when you run nothing can catch you.

It's truly horrible until fully upgraded, and without full skill crew, but once you get there it a blast - being so fast there are a number of maps where you can completely flank the enemy. It's so fun watching a tiger try and traverse while you drive around him......

I've been experiencing the unmitigated woe that is the late-tier UK medium and heavy tank lines; I'm just starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel now that I have the Centurion 7 with the 105mm gun, but the Caernarvon is like a horrible joke. I do like the AT 2, though, that insanely fast-firing 6-lbr doesn't do a lot of damage, but it's immense fun to just roll along, shells bouncing off me, pewpewpewing people to death.

That's nothing, try the long grind on the STA-1. Coming up against tier 9 and 10 heavy tanks with a tier 7 weapon that is just hopeless,; 30K more XP until I get the good gun. I do enjoy the ChiRi medium tank, even though you can come up against tier 9 from time to time. The 3 round clip and an 8sec reload makes it a good drive, although the armour is paper thin.

That's my life with the 20-pdr. Bonk! Bonk! Clang! Then one shot and I'm racked and everyone aboard is dead but the radioman.

I hope someone at some point releases a kit for this Waffel:

Not sure, but I would think this is one of the tanks that were merely conceptualized and not finalized.

Edit: Btw, as I think about this, it seems imo highly unlikely that anyone would want to make a kit of every model there is in WoT, because of how many tanks there are in the game.

Ha I've got in to this recently on the xbox . I'm mainly hitting the British line of tanks with the Matilda, as said it has a good reload speed. But I'm also enjoying my cruiser mk3, which is fully upgraded and stacks up the points by discovering all the enemy light tanks.

I tried the German line of tanks but only got as far as the Panzer 4 before giving up. The weapons aren't that great and they can be penetrated by just about everything.

I'd suggest to try the german tank destroyers. I haven't enjoyed much until I began to drive Hetzer. Good frontal armor and it is a tin opener ;)

I haven't tried the TD line for Germany. I avoided it because I found the Hetzer an easy kill in my Soviet mediums. I also found the Jagdpanzer and panther easily penetrated frontally and if outflanked they are vulnerable and burning Tiger I's is a past time. However I did just win an extra garage place, so I might have a crack at them. I'm actually trying to get the T71 as I like those clipped guns.

The T71 is pretty fun. You can do some sweet skids and flying jumps, too, and in some games, your only source of joy is going to be doing the best Dukes of Hazzard impression you can.
