Murphy's Law says ........probably not Rob !...it sneaks up upon you like a sneaky thing ! I think most builds get finished in a flurry of manic activity in that last week !, (not speaking personally of course :coolio: )

Well that's how it seems to pan out for me for these shows, However I think I will take a leaf out your book and if it happens it happens, No point rushing..

I hope to get something new finished for then but It might be just the usual.

It certainly does sneak up on you, All year were like, "Telford,, Ages away yet".. Then ...

Scoots, to be honest I've got two spare BOZ pods so may well do another in the unloaded config so I have the choice. The few photos I have of RAFG 2 squadron GR1A's only show the pods loaded.

Cheers....

Here you are mate;

(Cant remember where I got them from credit to the owner of the images)

These are the new resin replacement pylons necessary for the GR1/4/A as mastered and cast by Shaun.....lovely, if you're making an RAF variant these are a must have...

DSC_0145_zpsc07a03cf.jpg

The two shoulder pylons as fitted to the GR1A, (the central pylon wasn't generally carried on the GR1A due to the TIRRS reece equipment, though apparently once the equipment was decommissioned on the GR4A's they could be fitted ).

As you can see the MACES bulges are moulded in and the pylon is shorter than the IDS versions, the two small bulges on the rear fuselage underside need to be half removed..there were no cut outs at the rear of the RAF pylons as per the IDS aircraft.

DSC_0146_zps9712bb97.jpg

Outer wing pylons are also very different from the IDS version above,

And primed ....

DSC_0149_zpsdf42735c.jpg

The shoulder pylons are handed with the correct outer detail and plainer inner surfaces......IDS one above, (upside down...you can see the small cut out at the rear left)

I'll probably have an extra 1500 ltr tank on the right hand pylon and will therefore need to detail the underside of the left one as it's quite complex.

My thanks to Shaun for the pieces...

Melchie...

Excellent build! I've just gone a brought myself one of these kits today. I'm hoping it gets me out of this rut I'm in.... New kits always help don't they?

Thanks chaps, Ade, you won't be disappointed though as I've outlined there are one or two issues to deal with, particularly if you want to build a GR1/4 from this boxing. It still represents excellent value for money though...and yes a new kit always helps, something to get yer teeth into...(if I'm in a rut I tend to go off and model something totally different...it's got to really grab you but I find it works wonders !)

John, don't see why not..............just use a bigger magnifying glass

I've finished a second BOZ pod so have the choice of loaded or unloaded, (could always use the spare in a diorama I guess),

I mentioned the fit of the pylons at the rear fuselage earlier, this is the area concerned,

And cut..............quite awkward due to their proximity to the ducts but a micro chisel and thin sanding stick sorted things out nicely.......

And where does one find micro chisels ?

Never heard of them but they would be useful to have save me mucking about woth knives in areas that do not want to accept a knife

Looking very nice

Thanks Rob, have proved extremely useful particularly on resin but works well on plastic too, I got mine from Little-Cars, there should be a few selling them at Telford, Mr Models, MDC, etc...

Ah good old little cars I guessed it would be them, great shop I love all the stuff they sell very useful indeed I will pick some up.

Those tiny files they sell are great too. Chisels is a great idea. I know I will need them

Soon ;)

Cheers Rob :)

Finished detailing the undersides of the pylons....this needs to be done as a lot of surface is visible even with a 1500 Ltr tank fitted and they just don't look right without it. Takes a fair bit of time but with the use of some decent reference photos, a fresh scalpel blade, selection of micro drill bits and a micro chisel the work is made considerably easier......

Once cleaned up they were primed ready for fitting to the underside..

Blooming heck, I knew you took detail seriously but you deserver a medal for that one.. Whos gonna see it, Good to know its there and very well done. I would have ended up cutting them in half. on the first cut.

This is another General Insanity Melchett moment then..

Bearrgh.......well we all have our moments don't we........I just seem to have more than my fair share, (and I have a reputation to maintain :coolio: ) !

A reputation well deserved, What shocks me is not just what you do but the swiftness of it all. The chisels must be good if you can do that with them I must get some.

The most attention weapons rails have ever got from me is a long run of glue, Usually followed by swearing.

keep it up.

Rob ;)

Good lord Crusty...there you are !!.....thought we'd lost you to the sausage eaters !

Not at all General(although it was touch and go for a while!:-D) I have just had my yearly "sane" month where everything comes into focus for a while,so just did a bit of lurking before everything goes back to being blurry!:-D

Cheers Rob, not always as swift as I'd like but that's my fault for having so much on the go.........the chisels are brilliant and as you'd expect incredibly sharp........just watch yer pinkies !

Crusty...I have managed to advance well beyond that to having no sane periods whatsoever with plenty of strenuous lurking in between and yet oddly everything still remains reassuringly blurry.......just lucky I guess..... :frantic:

I am looking for something to remove the lumps and bumps from Vulcan engine tunnels, Chisels would make it easier.

Cheers mate ;)

Rob you may be as well to get hold of some of these Alpha Precision Abrasives sanding needles that I picked up at Milton Keynes.......they're perfect at getting to all those intimate Vulcan places...especially the pesky engine tunnels...!! They last well and aren't too harsh, just right ,(for me anyways)....
