Boeing 777-200 - "holding over Bermuda"

Recommended Posts

  • 4 years later...

could anyone help please: how does the new Zvesda/Revell 777-300 kit compare to the Eastern Express/Mini Craft kit I used here? And, can the Zvesda kit be easily cut and shut down into a -200 series? I have a spare EE/Minicraft -200 from which the wings could be used but don't know if that would work easily on a modified Zvesda fuselage. I am trying to avoid the horrible pain of using a Braz front end conversion again as the EE/Minicraft kit was different lengths and adding the conversion was not any easy task

Thanks in advance if anyone can help out here

Hi John,

If you want a -200 series 777 cutting down a Zvezda -300 is very doable.

The LR is definitely the easiest as there is very little to do apart from cutting down the fuselage. The -200 needs replacement engines and modified wingtips, both available from Bra.Z (and highly recommended too!)

Personally I'd offload the Minicraft 777 and buy another Zvezda/Revell -300ER to convert. Although I must say you did a fantastic job on this Minicraft kit. Most builds I've seen which use the Contrails replacement nose look worse than the original!

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Ian

Hi Ian

Thanks for the links - I immediately remember both the builds which look absolutely amazing - all the extra work on the wheels and the overall crispness makes both kits look gorgeous. I see the black leafy New Zealand 777 most weeks around and about our LHR skies always wishing that one day they would arrive wearing one of the old LOTR or Hobbit liveries. Both of which I have in 1/200 for a 747-4 and 777-300ER. I had a box rummage last night and decided to build my Zvezda 777 straight from the box and drop my set of 26Decals Emirates onto it  and stay clear of any plastic surgery.
