JOCKNEY
Hi Everyone My son has recently twisted my arm into getting him the 1/180 scale HMS Victory. This was a schoolboy error on my part by giving his the Airfix catalogue to look at, we were fortunate enough to find a slightly started one for £5 however...... My son is 8 years old........& The instructions are missing ! As someone who has never built even a small sailing ship before, the thought of tackling a 300 odd piece classic without instructions is unthinkable. If you can help with advice, a copy of the instructions, counselling etc I'm all ears ! Cheers Pat

GordonD
I built that kit back in the days when the ratlines came pre-formed. Just looking at the instructions on building a jig then making the ratlines from thread makes my head spin!

logical
Sorry to Hijack the thread. I'm building Victory for my Father-in-law to be as a christmas present. I've got as far as rigging and ratlines. I now have no idea what to do. I tried the rigging machine. Should I be coating the ratlines in clear all over or just the points where it joins? Black Knight
If you are using thread, which comes with some kits, I'd use glue over all of it. When its stiff its easier to glue into position and it retains its tightened look, If you don't glue the lot, just the cross-overs, it tends to be a bit floppy and when attached it doesn't have the right look of tightened ropes. theplasticsurgeon
Have a look at this thread - where I built a similar kit (Endeavour) in 3 weeks.http://gregers.fr.yuku.com/topic/4704/Model-no-7-Endeavour?page=1Most of the photos are gone, but you should get some ideas.
