Airfix 2015 Pt 2

Airfix has been concentrating on British subjects which is quite understandable, but how about a FJ-3 Fury or a F3H Demon. Lots of colour schemes there.

How about a 1:48 scale Tiger Moth? I am not sure if I really heard such rumors or if just imagine things :-)

Other than that I can imagine a Spitfire MkXIV high back and a Swift in 1:48. Well - I can imagine a lot...

And of course the 1:32 Morris Minor family :-D

What I do not expect but what I would like to see is a 1:48 Hampden and a 1:72 Victor.

No F-35s !!

No more Spitfires please.

Early Lightnings. Yes, I'm aware that Sword are to release kits. However, these are limited run multi media kits with limited availability and all the inherent problems that go with the type. Nothing an experienced modeller can't handle but, a mainstream single media kit would be guaranteed much greater availability & probably greater appeal & ease of construction.

Did anybody mention a 1/72 VC-10? :D

Definitely need a Spey Phantom and Buccaneer S1/S2. 1/48 both please

Definitely need a new Victor B1/B2/K1/K2 & Vulcan B1/B2

Anybody want a Beaufighter - a Merlin engined version would be nice!

Bristol Beaufort

New tool Hampden/Wellington/Halifax BIII/B-17/B-24/B-29

Hercules C1/C3/C130J

Anything Cold War & Russian - particularly SU-7/17/22

Shackleton (all marks)

Avro Lincoln

The coolest spacecraft EVER!! - Fireball XL-5

A 72nd Defiant would be nice so long as they get the nose right, this seems to have eluded MPM and Pavla.

A single seat Venom and a Venom Nf would fill a gap and the big kit could be a Halifax III.

Anyone mention a Beaufighter?

I'd suggest that the Typhoon IB would be a good choice - assume that Airfix get it ready for release in June 2014 to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the Tiffie's finest hour, and think of the variants.

Three and four blade props, RP and bombs (500 or 1,000lb), and if the kit is tooled to permit both teardrop and car door canopy, you can get the earlier cannon barrels, drop tanks and maybe even an NF1.

The Typhoon is a significant bit of RAF kit given its work in Normandy and NW Europe, and it'd be a very decent complement to the Spit and the Hurricane in 1/24th. I also suspect that it wouldn't be so big as to leave you thinking either

(a.) Love one of those, but literally have nowhere to put it when built; or

(b.) would love to do a couple but only have room for one

I suspect that anything bigger than a Mossie would suffer from the fact that it was so bloomin' large it'd put off some buyers, and would cost more than as buying two 1/48th Hasegawa F/A-18s does these days...

XV107 clearly you're psychic given this prediction from back in 2011. The only thing you got wrong is the June release date which was delayed anyway. So can you look into your crystal ball and tell us if Airfix are planning an F4U Corsair in 1/24th scale.

Which is what I really want maybe not in 2015 but eventually.

Where is the 1/48 Buccaneer...? But OK, 1/72 would also be great.

1/48 Sea Venom/Venom and Vampire Trainer have been mentioned, but I would love to see them! And a Swift in 1/48 as well.

I also guess that we will see at least one or two Spitfires. Probably a Mk. I/II and a VC.

And isn't it time for a new Seahawk in 1/72?

Unless Revell have re-released their F-13 in the past couple of months, then it is almost impossible to find these days.

Zvezda do a very nice -bis.

A MiG-21 would be ace, especially one of the later models. Zvezdas bis is ok, but I'm pinning my hopes on Eduard to release a definitive series of MiG-21s next year :)

The hasegawa offering from a few years back....................... bet it's silly money if you can find one.

And isn't it time for a new Seahawk in 1/72?

That would fit in perfectly with Airfix's current strategy.

Trumpeter do a very nice Sea Hawk but, as has been pointed out many time, a Trumpeter Sea Hawk makes no money for Airfix. I would rather buy an Airfix Sea Hawk than a Trumpeter one anyway.

What is this fascination with Captain Pugwash's Flying Circus AND Thick Fingers and Thumbs scales? :bleh:

Given that Mrs Wez has instigated a rule after seeing the size of the 1/24th Hawker Typhoon box that any kit that comes into the house is matched by a similar one the corresponding size going out (either sold, given away or, and this will make you chuckle, actually made)! I'm thinking 1/72nd is the way to go - although I might have to get some stronger glasses :nerd:

Fortunately, she made that rule AFTER the Tiffie kit arrived!

Anyway, back to the thread, EVERYONE knows the proper scheme for a Bucc is wrap around Dark Green and Dark Sea Grey or Desert Pink scheme as operated by the RAF!

Likewise, F-4K/FG.1's look best in 43 or 111 Sqn markings. :tease:

Wez

P.S. Please Mr Airfix, replace your 1/72nd Hawker Seahawk with a new kit, preferably with those really lovely Tern's head Sqn markings
