Wez
The Airfix 2015 thread is dead, long live the thread! The management said the old thread was too big (it was only 80 pages), so to carry on from where we left off, what do you predict Airfix will bring us in 2015? I'll kick off with: 1/72 Bristol Beaufighter 1/72 DH Mosquito (Twin Stage engines) 1/72 Lightning F1/3 1/72 Meteor F8 1/72 Vampire F3/FB5/9 1/48 Hawker Tempest Over to you guys Ooh! Just thought I better add 1/72 and 1/48 Hawker Hart family. Edited August 3, 2014 by Wez
Enzo the Magnificent
I started that thread in 2012! I didn't expect it to run longer than a month or so. I ended up changing the thread title when we approached the end of 2014. It ran for nearly 20 months!!!
venomvixen
All in 1/48 Sea Venom (with the bits in the box to do the different variants not just bung decals on a 22 and call it a 53 like some other dodgy toads do) Scale up the Vampire trainer Gannet, the ASW one not that hideous AEW thing Firebox Sea Fury (maybe third time around it will be done good) Mk 8 Meatbox Next.

I ended up changing the thread title when we approached the end of 2014. It ran for nearly 20 months!!! Funnily enough, I looked at your first post on that thread - it's amazing that three of the things on my list were on your list back then! Come on Airfix! Where's our 1/72 Beaufighter? All in 1/48 Sea Venom (with the bits in the box to do the different variants not just bung decals on a 22 and call it a 53 like some other dodgy toads do) Scale up the Vampire trainer Gannet, the ASW one not that hideous AEW thing Firebox Sea Fury (maybe third time around it will be done good) Mk 8 Meatbox Next. If they did that list in 1/72nd (obviously with the exception of the Vampire trainer) AND 1/48th I'd be well happy!

Stu
Well that handover was almost seamless well done Wez Another vote for the 72nd Beaufighter though I'd settle for a 48th if I had to. What I won't settle for is neither appearing. Plus something railway, apart from the obvious candidates did wonder whether a 48th WD Austerity would appeal to the AFV crowd as well. Well, if that lot comes true ................ 1. I shall be a happy bunny 2. I shall be broke 3. I will have to live in the Hornby shop............... I think we may also see a Spitfire or Seafire in 72nd.
dazdot
So is the vote coming across on our predictions? Still don't think there is a market for a beaufighter though Edited August 3, 2014 by dazdot

Moving swiftly on........... I'm thinking after the round of new Lancs, the possibility of a Lincoln and also what RichG and Orjan have said, a Shackleton, alright, Rich is being picky! asking for specifics, to whit an MR2 / AEW2 Wez, think you may be on to something with a 72nd Lightning F1/3. With the Meteor Mk.8 remember Airfix did one a few years ago, briefly, I believe the moulds were MPM? Paul
Enzo the Magnificent
Wez, think you may be on to something with a 72nd Lightning F1/3. Airfix have already stated that they won't be doing these versions which would effectively require a completely new kit. Sword will be releasing their kits of these versions shortly. With the Meteor Mk.8 remember Airfix did one a few years ago, briefly, I believe the moulds were MPM? Paul Airfix's Meatbox was indeed the MPM tooling which IIRC, Xtrakit were also selling but at twice the price at the time, I think there were some miffed people around when that happened. I did hope that would provide the trigger for Airfix to do their own. Airfix have already stated that they won't be doing these versions which would effectively require a completely new kit. Sword will be releasing their kits of these versions shortly. I'm hoping that's all smoke and mirrors from Airfix. Wez
occa
My humble (but I am afraid not fully realistic) 1/72 list. Airfix you must not do everything in 2015, there is a coming 2016 also. - Lancastrian and York please, since Airfix has the wings for these already. - Martlet I plus the FM-2 / Wildcat IV - Hurricane Mk.I metal wing, fuselage already there - Whitley, all radial and inline engined versions - Halifax, all versions
Aesthete
I really hope, that they don't hesistate to do 1/72 Halifax (preferably and also most likely, Mk. III) and also B-17 (preferably G) despite (or maybe just because of?) the less than perfect Revell releases... An early P-38/F-4/F-5 Lightning would also be not a bad idea.
