I will not be surprised if you haven't ever heard about this funny little aircraft

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikoyan-Gurevich_MiG-8

All of a sudden two companies have released kits in 1:72

Prop & Jet

http://propjet.ucoz.ru/news/mikojan_samolet_utka/2013-09-02-24

and AVIS

http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/BX72013

I was among those few lucky ones who obtained Prop & Jet kit - what a little resin gem!

The instruction mentions that 3g of weight should be added to the nose

Long and painful masking to apply a coat of red to the edges

1406154472_PICT0397.jpg

And here the disaster strikes. Liquid mask has eaten some paint - something that never happened before.

Never mind - that is fixable

Crazy to find your really nicely done model, just as I've been looking into building a 1/72 Curtiss Ascender ! This concept was more popular back in the day, than I had realized !

Nice work. Prop & Jet kits are a joy. I have built several of Musa's early Russian jets but he has, alas, gone on to what, for me, are less interesting items but might go down well with Moa.

Thanks :).

Musa, in fact, has never abandoned his "early Russian jet" passion. The last Prop&Jet kit is Yak-19

The problem is that this theme is finite, not too many of them left uncovered

When I was last in contact with him, about when his Vought Pirate was to be released, his reply was to the effect that the financial situation over there was dire and nobody had any money for kits.

A pity his next is the Yak 19 as I already have one, the A&V version, and although Musa's will be far superior I would have liked him to have started with the Yak 25 or 30.

Regarding your last comment I think that there are enough left uncovered to keep me going until my increasingly fumble fingers or the grim reaper put a stop to my efforts

He started gathering information on both

but, as you see, the project(s) have stalled.

There is, however, Yak-25 from Prop&Jet, I have even built  one :)

That's really nice. I have never tried one of his vacforms as he was using resin by the time I found about Prop & Jet kits.

In case anybody is confused I was referring to the 1947 & 48 Yak25 &  30.

I am currently having 'fun' with an Amodel Yak 25.
