Speedman
Please make sure you explain how you do it, it's not one of my strong points! I'll get some photos of each stage of weathering and do my best to describe how I did it. The tracks have been painted and given a light post shade spray to break up the block colour. I've nearly finished the anti-grenade frame.
Sgt.Squarehead
Looking sweet.....How far are you going to go with weathering this one? These vehicles were 'one-shot-weapons' so they didn't ever get chance to rust, but they did get rather dirty! PS - SimonR - Cheers for the heads up about "Our World War", just watching it on iPlayer, here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b04f8cw8/our-world-war-3-war-machine

Will Vale
Great work, the black lining on the camo must've been hard to do but very worthwhile.
Bengalensis
It's looking great with the camouflage painting. How did you do the black outlines? I have to do something similar.
Bonhoff
Similar job done on one in Airfix Model World a while back. Constructor of that one just used a marker pen.....
shelfspace
Really cracking work, particularly on the camouflage! Think I might have to break out one of these...

It's looking great with the camouflage painting. How did you do the black outlines? I have to do something similar. Similar job done on one in Airfix Model World a while back. Constructor of that one just used a marker pen..... I tried it a test area with a fine tipped Sharpie but the thickness looked to uniform, so I painted over it and continued to the rest of the model. Looking very good indeed. I'm looking forward to seeing the weathering - please make sure you explain how you do it, it's not one of my strong points! Ian I'll do my best So, a bit of weathering... I mixed an oil wash of Black and Burnt Sienna and dabbed it all over applying a little extra in any recesses. At the same time I applied a thicker wash of Yellow Ochre to the tracks. Once dried I removed it with a cotton bud leaving the paint looking dirty but not worn. Wash applied. Excess removed. The effect of Yellow Ochre on the tracks.

dazdot
Problem is at the moment I have a build list as someone wants their Tamiya Lancaster built for them after the albatross. I may get on to my only tank in the stash after.

Speedman
Thanks everyone The next stage of weathering is complete. I sprayed a "dirty" layer using Citadel's Nuln Oil & Agrax Earthshade thinned 50/50 with IPA, keeping the staining low on the hull and accentuating joints including those on the upper surfaces. I used a black Pitt pen to fill the sighting slots and used a cotton bud to remove the excess.

shelfspace
Very nicely done. On this evidence, I might even abandon my trusty hairy stick and invest in an airbrush...
Sgt.Squarehead
Sweet.....Really like the way you are building the effects up in layers. It's definitely the way forward IMHO.
Blastvader
That looks brilliant. I might steal that if I ever decide to paint my Mk. 1 (ish) Airfix kit. Also if I can find somewhere that sells IPA (apart from the pub that is!).
Speedman
Next stage... An oil pin wash applied to every join, indent, recess and rivet. Just applied. Excess removed.

Speedman
I've managed to take some photos in daylight at last! I applied some orange rust to the tracks using Tamiya's Weathering Master set C to add some lighter tones, and I've dry brushed the rest of the model including the rear wheel assembly. I used four different colours to dry brush, white, cream, medium grey and light olive. Each was applied to a corresponding paint shade to keep the contrast over the camouflage equal.
