shelfspace
Drybrushing separate colours with corresponding lighter tones - damn that's an elegant method. Will have to steal that one (next build unfortunately)
CliffB
I've come late to this build (more's the pity). It's looking wonderful. Cliff
Speedman
Thanks everyone. MUD!!!!! Built up in four stages... To start I used Revell's Dark Earth acrylic to give a base colour for the mud on the tracks and lower hull, I also added a little to the top of the sponsons and hull. I then made up a dark sludge using scrapings from a dark brown pastel and Microscale Liquid Decal Film and applied it to the tracks. After all the sludge was used... Not forgetting the wheels of course. After this was thoroughly dry I dabbed on a coating of Polly Scale Dirt. The last coat was a dry brushing of Polly Scale Mud. I'll try to get a "daylight" photo or two posted up soon, the flash makes it look a lot lighter than it is.

Speedman
Finished! After spraying a light coat of Citadel's Agrax Earthshade to the muddy bits to add a final tone I gave the entire model a light spray of Clear. Once this had dried I sprayed it with a mix of Clear and Tamiya's Flat Base to give it a nice matt coat. I then used a fine brush to dab Clear over areas I want to look like wet mud, capillary action lets it spread naturally and pulls it up seams and joins. More photos in the gallery.

CliffB
Fantastic! I particularly like the difference between the wet and the dry mud - very effective. Cliff
