Is the 1/72 Trumpeter Gannet OK?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I gave my last Revell Gannet away as it had broken clear parts, a very common problem it appears  It's a shame as it is a nice kit.

I'd like a Gannet in the stash so was wondering if the Trumpy one is OK

I know it doesn't have an open/poseable bomb bay like the Revell but if the clear parts are a bit more robust, I might get one

Or is there any chance Revell improved the clear bits in the newer T5 boxing

Cheers

Chris

I have the trumpeter kit and looks nice in the box. I'm sure I had read somewhere that the Revell kit is superior in terms of shape accuracy, but I had found the chinese kit for such a low price that I could not pass so for me this was not a bad choice. The clear parts in my kit are perfect.

Mind, if it's only a matter of clear parts you could try replacing the ones in the Revell kit with the Falcon parts meant for the old Frog one, don't know if they fit but if they do they would be quite an improvement. Aeroclub also did a vacuform canopy for the Frog kit

Looked OK to me and I didn't have any problems with the build...

I REALLY wish Revell would do this in 1/48, too. They've done all the research already, sooooo... :tumble::deadhorse:

Thanks, yes I used the Alley Cat wingfold, Eduard PE and the Falcon vac canopies, which I think were intended for the Frog kit!

And the errors on the transfer sheet.
