This is the forge world sguiggoth.

This model took me a few hundred hours to complete over a period of about 18 months. This is my first all resin model that I've finished, it represents many first time achievements for me as a model maker. The kit is quite good although some of the flash (which is normal for resin) is a lot thicker than most resin items that I've used on my other models kits (Aires/FreightDogModels). It is slightly softer too, although the forge world resin is fairly consistent (I have loads in boxes!) it is expensive if you consider £ v's quality. That being said it still builds up well with very little filler being used, the legs are the most difficult joint to fit and align, some of the scales need reworking. I have modified this kit from the box (or bag!) the additions/mods are the rider/guider, the gunsight and the two rear most totem poles. The arms on both figures required some work to get the arms to sit right. The reigns are from Christmas cracker jewellery. The gun barrel, which must be bought separately, has been drilled and his missing tooth is the result of "an accident". I dropped it! The worst part about this model is that I had to give it away, I built it for my brother, it was a free gift for him.

Inspiration drawn from crocodile, blue tongued lizard and spotted gheko. All paints from games workshop except Matt varnish which was humbrol. The base is mainly tamiya texture paint with some odd bits dotted about, old paintbrush bristles for long dry grass and more random bits and pieces from various sources.

:wow::goodjob: I love the look of the FW stuff, but there's no way I can afford (well, justify) the expense of the larger models just for myself. A truly unique gift for your brother, though, that's another thing entirely...

That's a cracking job mate, well worth the time and cost. I hope your bro appreciates it as much as us modelling geeks!

That is just awesome! I love the paint job on the metal work! Very realistic rusting going on there.

I also like the smaller details, like the explosive sign on the ordinance.

Your paint work in General is just brilliant. All the right shading and colours

I could just go on and on....

Well worth the time spent on this

Hope to see more of your work

Cheers. Proper cheers! I couldn't afford this either! All told its a £100 or so inc. case etc. So far and by a big margin this is my most expensive complete kit. My time I guess has some value?

My brother (who is older) well his face was like his 7 year old christmas face when I presented this to him. He really wanted a squiggoth so I got it him, actually he was so enthusiastic about this model I was left no choice. I can tell when I see him look at it, that he more than appreciates this. He saw some of the work in progress but never saw the armour being painted or the rider mod. also he never knew about how it was to be displayed. Those were special surprises for him.

I must say I was a little reluctant to give it him but it has no place in my cabinet. "Ork Scum" next to my heroes of the empire. I'm a marine commander! I eat orks for breakfast!

Thank you sir. I really appreciate these comments. Great motivation to get on with my next project for him. It's a part started one off nearly scratch built Ork er. . . . I'd say main battle tank but they call it something different. Big trakk mega blasty wotsit thing! Based on the ork trukk half track conversion. (This one he paid for the bits!) no pics anywhere until it's complete because it's a surprise for all. It will be totally unique.

(Click a pic, it should take you to high quality pictures on my flickr profile, there are more finished shots of this model)

Cheers batcode. Yes there is a lot of work getting these things ready and then you still need to paint them! I wish I had more time to game though! My fish take up most of my time and they can't look after themselves so they get first allocation of time.

What can I say about warhammer 40,000. Strangely addictive that game, it's a disease!

Oooh nice, I haven't seen many of these made up. The rider on the neck is excellent - I like the movement in the arms and reins vs. the solid still pose of the Squiggoth: "MUSH!"

Great job on a massive model, I can see where the time went!

Most of the time went on the rusty armour, I'd say more than half of the total. :) thank you.

Cracking job on what looks to be a sizable chunk of resin, very impressive.

Cheers, yes it's a MONSTER! For some idea I'd say it's useable with 1/35 scale parts. Close if not to scale.

Thank you very much for this comment, a good amount of time went on this element, loads of thinking! I figured it would need some sort of control, while the idea of this thing running amok on the battlefield is great, even the orcs would prefer some sort of control over a main artillery piece. This rider is a custom job made from bits across the Orc range, just with milliput to pose the arms. Chains came from a Christmas cracker "jewellery item!" The rings were made from regular wire. I looked at a few of these built, I'm sure this one is unique. (The gun sight sort of works too, if you line up the sights a greater elevation on the gun sees you looking farther up the battlefield)

Really I am very happy with the result, to date it is one of the best things I have ever achieved with a paintbrush!

(Mush, made me smile!)
