mumbles
Thanks guys Ahh yes, the flat wing! I'd forgotten about that! I did something very silly. I forgot to drill out some holes, so held it up to the light to try and see the holes after the wing was together. In a move of unbelievable stupidity, I held it too close to the light for too long and melted it! That's why it's flat! I know...!! I pulled it into shape as much as I could, but there you go! That you for the info on the white ailerons, I did indeed follow the instruction on that one. Thanks for the comments, very helpful, Cheers, val No probs. I'll bet you laughed and laughed when you noticed what happened to the wing, not!
Val
No probs. I'll bet you laughed and laughed when you noticed what happened to the wing, not! Indeed! To be honest, I took it quite well, it was so silly I just had to laugh! On the other hand, I didn't actually think it really noticed when it was completed, I'm impressed with your powers of observation! My attempts to remedy the wing was also quite comical, involving sticking matchsticks down the wing, and bits of sprue, nothing worked though! Oh well, live and learn

Hopefully you won't melt that one. I was looking at a box of this kit the other day, I walked away with several other kits instead, based on what you say here, maybe next time? AT LEAST YOU HAD FUN! I was looking at a box of this kit the other day, I walked away with several other kits instead, based on what you say here, maybe next time? AT LEAST YOU HAD FUN! Yeah, I'll try not to! The kit is great and I'd recommend it. The decals are fit are great, lots of things to snap though (a product of the scale to be fair), but my only real gripe, and one I have constantly with Airfix, is giant sprue gates. Couple of mistakes in the instructions though, but most people seem clued up on it. One other thing, I think I've got the wrong pylons on the wings for the bombs. I put the ones on as instructed, but there are another pair in the instructions and I think I should have used them. But it was fun, and as you correctly pointed out, that's all that really matters with a kit Val Cheers Mike

Oh well, live and learn Thanks, but it's kind of what I do (I work in QA), and alignment has always come naturally to me, as does spotting when it's not quite right. I've also built a few 1/72 A-4's so know exactly what to look at which helps Edited July 27, 2014 by mumbles

I put the ones on as instructed, but there are another pair in the instructions and I think I should have used them. If it helps on the A-4 the inboard wing pylons are slightly taller, with a straight leading edge - the outboard pylons are shallower and have a slightly swept forward leading edge.

Ahh, better not look too closely at my builds then! It certainly does, I'll look at those pylons when I do the Argentinian A-4. Thanks again for the tips

PlaStix
Somehow I managed to miss this back in July. Excellent work Val - and I think the weathering looks spot on. I'm glad ArmouredSprue got this thread back up again.

She's currently living on top of one of tall cupboards in my office along with my mustang and BF110. Hopefully I'll finish a spit and harrier soon to join them!

I hope the A4 is between the Mustang and the BF110, Mustangs have a tendency to eat 110s as breakfast!

Lol yeah, the A4 and BF110 are 1/72, and the mustang is 1/48, so they both look pretty scared of the Mustang!
