Bob Horton was doing avoid curve autorotations

I know what you mean.

I, however, have absolutely no idea what you mean and must henceforth resort to google again........

BTW. Super work Bill.

Oh well

A solitary candle seems unable to heat enough PETg to allow a crash moulding :(:(:(

So the candle will be reserved for more fitting com-memorial (izzat a word?) purposes tonight and the canopy and screen moulding will be undertooken in the garage tomorrow a.m.

I may revert to acetate sheet too 'cos PETg seems a bit rugged for getting thin enough in curves

Like Steve, I googled the avoid curve.

Wow

I bain't a gooing thar' skipper. Scary stuff

Tonight then I shall entertain myself making rudder pedals (are they rudder pedals in a helo I wonder)

The etch stuff is very fine, lovely stuff and not remotely like the footrests on a Scout I suppose they are footrests too though ;)

Luckily Airfix have produced a pretty fair representation of the cyclic, so paint and a sliver or two of switchable stretched sprue will do for this.

I intend building the additional avionics gubbinses that sit athwart the left side of the IP coaming which will almost certainly drive the SS11s.

(thinks, one needs to pop out to see if there's a suitable transparent blue paint at my LMS for the tinted upper canopy section. I bet Tamiya have something suitable. He stocks paint from one of the "Battling Orc Hobby Painters" too, bound to find summat are I not? ) ;)

Next

Draw and plot the missile carriers for if Mike cannot find his set.

Where did I leave that nice drawing?

After a bit of further googling I found the entire Test Pilot series on youtube, 6x 30 mins episodes not watched em all yet but has just taken me back to 1986 as spotty teenage irk when I last saw it. Lots of bolted on wing and whirly wing stuff, The avoid curve bit is here in part 2 at 22:22 Starts off in the classroom

Perdu,

there's a Scout (XP907) sitting in our hangar at Wattisham. If you need any pics, let me know and I'll do what I can.

Don't know (yet) how to upload pictures from my phone!!! but I'm sure my daughter will come to my aid.

Happy days

For my next trick I need the help of someone from the audience

Yes sir you will do nicely

If you have any intimate knowlege of the methods of four point harness attachment in Her Majesty's Heloocopterers

I cant see any suitable points on the seats I have been copying to attach a harness but on the floor is this...

westland_scout_ah1_xt626_33_of_54croppag

Behind each seat there is a recessed strengthened plate and a ring mounting

Apologies for the truly crap home made arrows, but fortunately they seem to show clearly

Would this be where the harnesses where attached? There are triangular flange plates rivetted to the sides of the seat pans at what looks like a decent spot to slap the side straps, Any ideas?

The Airwaves etch straps are not long enough to go further down the seat than the middle howver the etch part has a very long tail that I could trim down to and stick on a ring for each unit. This would then be stuck down at a ring added from thin wire.

I have made the new canopy from PETg in my non-dental vaccuum forming machine

Lots of MIlliput then shaping the blob so it lets go of the moulded workpiece after vaccing it

Scoutinga910006_zpsde0a11e5.jpg

then trimming can begin, blimey its hard stuff to pare away gently, this first mould has too many blemishes but is being 'proof of concept' for the later, much nicer moulded piece

Scoutinga910002_zpse4a96760.jpg

Scoutinga910004_zps438a8401.jpg

the traditional gratuitous ugly one to show how small Airfix made this little beauty

Scoutinga910017_zps1fe52580.jpg

.

And the rud....oops yaw pedals have been knocked out and placed on top of two white strips which represent the bristle covers over the pedal tracks, NOT GOOD to allow odds and ends to drop down them when you have mucky booted squaddies hopping in aand out so the bristle keep 'em clean

Scoutinga910023_zps03c9417d.jpg

Not pretty in megamagnification.. looks OK to the human eye thank gawd

I really want to get on with the nitty gritty engine deck soon

More, newer canopy trimming tonight

Hi Scoots, that would be great

How about seat harness fittings as per the above?

Does she have the SS11 kit aboard, I could do with any cabin interior stuff for a missile ship

He said hopefully

I'm grateful for your offer, maybe anything you get could go in the Scout walkaround, the more picture data the better

It is good to see that your modelling skills massively exceed your computer drawing skills.

Cheers,

Cant really help on the harness mounts but those points on the floor look more like securing points for tying down a loads carried on the rear floor. so might not really be for the seats.

Good clean pull for that canopy, nicely done.

I think you are right about the points on the floor Mark

Whilst looking through the Forum's walkaround for the Wopse I found their pictures of the seatback of the naval Officer's seats

The mystery seems to be solved.

Scout and Wasp have versions of the same seat without the naval baggage container on the seatback of Scout's chairs

Both seats have the same stiffened box section with the same bolt holes and fixed studs showing for Scout

The naval seat clearly has some kind of pre-tensioning assembly thatt marks the rearmost harness fixture

I have begun making up a couple of silverish items to do for this task

w60crop_zps69a40109.jpg

The side straps are attached to the seat pan sides, looks like a pre-tensioner gadget attched to the rear part by a black wire

I'm not likely to model that, ta.

Presently fitting windows, where's that bloomin Autowindshields guy when you need him?

Or the crack fixing bird from many years ago

Just need to track down the missile details, 'specially the roof sighting mechanism

research task for the evening, best crack open a fresh can...

Funnily enough Nigel

no

I perfer to relax under affluence of incahol

Primer is not permit within a certain large radius of SHE who

So tonight I have decided to relax by popping the pretensioner device and the etchy belts onto the seats

Yesterday I popped some of the windows in, you wouldn't believe how well fitted these look under the mk 1 part b eyeball

The plan is to fit these which are slightly oversize then mask off the right size and shape and top off with Mr Surfacer 500, the masking can then stay aboard until after the top coats go on

Scoutinga911003_zpsce30142a.jpg

The cracked windscreen frame has been 'sorted' tonight after I saw how horrid it looks

The rivets, sadly 'acos I am quite historically attached to them will be removed from the solidly glued together fuselage soon

Anyway the harnesses, some sources say dark green nylon others say black

Beggaritall I won't be seeing much in there, a risk or hope that the straps might show dictates Dark Green so that is what we get

Scoutinga911012_zpse71ee70d.jpg

.The bare white patches on the tensioners has now been touched in, sadly PB is so unuser friendly I can't put my hands on the decent picture I uploaded :(

So here is my take on the Westland built seat harnesses

Scoutinga911006_zps172acdd7.jpg

.

These are going onto the cockpit floor next thing, along with seat adjusters and the cyclic stick

Should be building a helicopter again soon, I can't wait

b

Mk1 part b eyeballs? What was wrong with the Mk1 part a eyeballs? How come you've got an upgrade?

BTW them seats look the very business at several times life size - must be truly impressive in the flesh (well plastic/metal/indian rubber - you know what I mean....)

Here here, Brit Modeller and beer, the perfect combination.

Seats look excellent Bill

Like that. Suggested improvements would be (i) an Apple MacBook Air and (ii) a bottle of Black Sheep bitter. Now you're talking......... :)
