dr_gn
Looks fantastic - looking forward to seeing it at Telford (and you of course!). Humbrol Matt acrylic #49 spray can is my varnish of choice - I don't recall having much issue with it.
perdu
I thought I was going to be OK with it myself Used it a couple of weeks ago getting the airframe matted, no problems Never mind s**** happens (STUFF) Be good to see you at Telford, bringing the Hurri? No, not bringing any models to Telford. Don't you have to be an IPMS member and enter the comp on Saturday (not that the Hurricane would get anything). keefr22
Bill, that's just superb! And as mentioned this has been a great build thread, a very entertaining & educational read! I shall be joinning the crowds thronging around the Scout at Telford, hope I can get close enough to see! I was going to say don't waste your time on that old Hasegawa clunker of a Lightning, get one of the lovely new Airfix ones instead. But then guessed that wouldn't be enough of a challenge for you, & that a silk purse would emerge from the Hasegawa box...!! All the best see you at Telford Keith

Fritag
All I can say is that for scouty to come second the winner must have been something (even more) special - or mebee there's something awry in the Black Country judging...... Judging by the above comments it looks like there'll be a scrum at the brum stand. BTW. Don't let me pick it up......
perdu
You should see what came third Scouty is going to be easy to find Steve CLASS 22 HELICOPTERS 1/72 AND SMALLER The Cat will be around too I may be harder to locate, depends on whether the club needs me to give some time to the main committee for "assistance duties" round the show Easy thing, find Brum's tables ask for Bill. We have two, I'm the one not wheely chair bound Edited November 4, 2014 by perdu

MolarDoc
Your scout looks fantastic - Your attention to detail has resulted in an exquisite replica. If you came second, I would demand a recount. Good luck at Telford you deserve it.
Brandy
Fantastic job and a very educational thread, thanks for both! I won't be at Telford as I'm the other side of the pond, but it has been a pleasure to follow this build! (and that from a fixed-wing guy who dislikes fling-wings - WAY too many moving parts.....) perdu
cheers guys Molar, nope I rather think that if I build in little I should expect to be eclipsed by the boys who build in big, second from my hard bitten bunch is pretty special. The Rumpler had lovely well applied German hexagon camo applied by well fitted decals, I gave it one of my three votes too Ian I hope you get to see lots of pictures from Telford, if you can't be there I have a decision to make RFI now or after SMW? keefr22
RFI now or after SMW? I'd at least take the piccies now Bill - hopefully it won't happen to that lovely little Scout, but I always seem to have a few models suffer at least Cat. 3 damage on the way to, or back from, Telford, however carefully I pack the things... and then I seem to lose all motivation to fix them until just before the following years show (I'm just fixing 3 from last year at the moment!!)
perdu
I tried but I am a crappy tographiser I will try harder after Telford guys but so far not so good Here's a taste of the future I will be taking hundreds of shots in the vague hope of... (doc [dr_gn] gave me some hints, I just have to get it on better) .
Fritag
Here's a taste of the future Nah. That's the weird helicopter past that is........ Guess I'll just have to wait to see it in't flesh at Telford.
perdu
OK I suppose I had to do it So I did do it RFI over there http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234969591-airfix-westland-scout-ah1/ I can't get the pooter to let me make a clever 'here' type rename So I haven't I'm fixing up an old scratch built coal waggon now before I decide what to do next, its springs sagged a bit in forty years sitting in a box with my old beret and stable belt Resprung durch thingmy... I have the Frog Canberra B(I) 8 sitting here, anyone know if the cockpit of the B(I)8 is similar to the PR9? I have seen pictures of the PR9 recently and cannot find Bomber cockpit pictures anywhere A simple bomber from the 50s appeals a bit while I wait for Fritag to get his Hawking gloves on/off
