1/72 Roden S.E.5a, rigged with EZ-line, Pheon decals.

Markings are for Captain (later Group Captain) James Ira "Taffy" Jones (38 victories), 74 (Tiger) Squadron, 1918. I am not a good photographer.

All my builds for this:

All 1/72, paints were primarily Misterkit (and very finicky it was), with some Tamiya and Alclad cowls for the Nieuports, as well as some generic oil paints for woodgrain.

L to R: Roden SE5a with Pheon decals, Eduard Nieuport 17 with Blue Rider decals, and HR Models Nieuport 10 built OOB. Yes the roundels are funky, I have a photo that shows the real aircraft had funky roundels. Every year dozens of planes suffer from funky roundel syndrome, and for just pennies a day, you can pay for aftermarket decals to mitigate this. Thank you.

Martinsyde S.1, 30 Sqd. R.F.C. (Indian Flying Corps), Kut-al-Amara, Mesopotamia, September, 1915, flown by Maj. Reilly.

Scratch-built in 1/72.

Caught some sunlight here this morning (11/14), so I am putting in some of the final pictures on edit, and will be pulling the older ones.

Well thanks to everyone that has taken part, and thanks to Dazdot and Mish for helping me through this. Kallisti's DH2 one, with Jorgens FT17 and Pin's Fokker coming joint second. Big round of applause all round

Oh wow, thank you, I'm very surprised and very pleased thank you!

I must say however that the Wingnut Wings kits are so easy to produce something that looks amazing - its mostly the quality of the kit.

Commiserations to Jorgen who only came second with his superb FT 17, that build blew me away, especially as I'd built the simpler version of the kit earlier.

Well done everyone! I thought it was a top GB with lots of breadth of subject. Kallisti - a good model builds itself, but you need a bit of extra "zing' to bring out the best. - You did that. Well done!

And Jorgens FT17 was just lovely - it was only my "wing" addiction stopped me voting for his first. ( Sorry mate)

lets hope that in 100 years time we DONT have to have an anniversary for another World War group build.

Top three all thoroughly deserving winners

Thanks everyone - especially whoever it was who voted for my wagon. :)

I can only think it was someone with a finely tuned sense of irony but it's the first time anyone has voted for one of mine....
