Speedman
Sorry for the late start but I've been waiting to see if the Sun would "de-yellow" the decals before starting. Thankfully they are now nice and white and ready to go. This will be a (mostly) OOB build. The box & sprues shot... Nice to see engraved panel lines on this one, my Lancaster and B-25 have raised lines. Engine detail is... OK. There are no engines, but I have a cunning plan! I drilled, cut & filed out the fuselage windows. And made some bulkheads so I could add some Liquid Gravity. I popped some extra weight in the front of the nacelles just to be on the safe side. Some Mr Surfacer to seal it all in. There's nothing worse that a rattly aircraft A lick of black paint... And the fuselage and wings are glued and pegged.
Sgt.Squarehead
Nice to see a medium being built.....That looks like a lot of lead in a little model!

Arniec
Great to see a model of the B-26 in the GB. And also a great start on the build. Cheers,
Speedman
Thanks guys The wing and tailplane are on and I sorted out the engine detail. I Photoshopped some engine photos I found online down to 9mm, then used one of my scribing templates as a guide for cutting them out. I've sealed the back and front with Liquid Decal Film so the ink doesn't run when I glue them in place. I did a quick test fitting and it looks the part, a lot better than leaving it blank. (I told you it was cunning!)

Speedman
Cheers everyone Some of the glazing has been fitted along with the undercarriage doors. I should get some primer on it in a few days time.

Speedman
I sprayed it with Revell acrylic silver, then painted the wheel wells with their new fern green darkened with a little black. All was going well until the decals... Knowing this was an old issue I coated the decals in Liquid Decal Film, even this didn't prevent the decals cracking and breaking in a few places. I hate to think how bad it would have been without it! I've a lot of touching up to do Both wing decals suffered the same fate. Even the smallest of decals had problems. Not only did it break up but Minicraft got the shape wrong and it results in this... As I said, lots of touching up to do!
sean
Bummer on the decals, this was coming along so well. None in the spares? Sean
Arniec
Ay, those aren't great decals. Luckely they didn't disintergrate in the water. After some touche up it will be ok. Cheers,
Speedman
Bummer on the decals, this was coming along so well. None in the spares? Sean Unfortunately, spare 1/144 decals are few and far between. I did manage to patch then up with a little paint and a couple of coats of Clear. It's had a pin wash and some post shading to dirty it up a bit and I used sliver painted decal strips for the framing on all the glazing, it's the first time I've tried this technique and it worked well. Undercarriage is only test fitted in this shot.

Arniec
You could have fooled me if you would have said it was in 1/72 scale. Cheers,
Speedman
Cheers guys The decal strips work really well and I'll be using this method again. It takes a lot of time to do it this way (about 4 hours for cockpit, turret and nose) but it's worth it. I'd never get them this crisp by masking... It's finished!
