JD tiger 1
Wouldent it be good if there were scale models of halo vehicles and characters. Especially for Covenant vehicles and achieving that sort of metalic purple and blue finish on a Phantom dropship or cruiser or a wraith and the luminecent blue from exhausts. It would look stunning I think. Human vehicles will look pretty awsome as well with some good weathering. A tank for example the scorpion or a warthog. Also human ships. Just something to tthink about
LeVi Tophatter
Deffo, I've always wanted a model of Master Chief, the little Hornet 'copter and that guilty spark robot. Been years since I've last played Halo or any other computer game... From what I've seen, the only models you can get are the Mega Blocks stuff for kids and the more 'serious' Kotobukiya poseable action figure... SeanM
Funny, only played the game once and sucked at it. But love the Halo books! Pity there are not more filme like "Forward unto Dawn" and I want a 1/35 Warthog
sennapod
I can only agree - mostly on behalf of my teenage son. He plays Halo endlessly, and despite past attempts of mine to get him into modelling via the traditional route (aircraft, cars etc) he's never really got to grips with the hobby - but I'm certain few halo kits would get him onto the right path. i agree some of the Halo vehicles and 'stuff' looks very nice and we've had a trawl round (fruitlessly) looking for kits to pique his interest. So far, the best we have done is a homemade gun/rifle thing made out of expanded polystyrene (and we made the polystyrene cutter too out of I an old toaster and a model railway controller!) and then covered in smooth car body filler and then painted grey tones. I suspect, like most things these days, the paucity of choice is down to licensing and return on investment.
Will Vale
My guess is that Halo and other videogames fall through the cracks a bit - they're probably perceived as too niche as a model (despite being a mass market product as a game) for the big manufacturers to consider licensing, and they're maybe too new (young??) for the resin etc. aftermarket (which is often quite traditional) to consider making them. I auspect quite a bit of fun could be had repainting one of the "collectable" Master Chief statues. I was hoping there might be some Japanese Halo capsule toys (since these can be pretty cool models) but AFAIK Halo never really took off in Japan - the combination of FPS and Xbox was not a winner... If you look for miniatures rather than vehicles you might do a bit better - e.g. NorthStar Models makes several obvious game-related figures (Skyrim, Mass Effect, Killzone, Stalker) although they aren't exactly advertised as such since they're not licensed. Another option would be something from Games Workshop - the Tau look quite a bit like the Covenant, and some of the Imperial Guard (especially the Forgeworld resin stuff) have a decent UNSC aesthetic. There's also the 10mm Dropzone Commander range from Hawk Wargames which looks very Halo-like. And finally you could always build the Zvezda/Revell MIL Mi-26 :D Will
Rich G
I've seen some short run resin kits of the warthog and a few figures, but I think that's it unless a major manufacturer decides to bring out a range, which personally I think will never happen. It is a shame, as you often see kits from games and films coming to market, Halo you would have thought would have been one. Rich
Rich G
That is some impressive work on that helmet, very well done. Rich
Will Vale
Yeah, whoever made that is an artist with Bondo! I like the use of playing cards for moulding the sharp bits.
JD tiger 1
Thanks for those responses chaps. There much appreciated. That's an incredible job on that master chiefs helmet you must have some dedication to produce that to such a high standard. Thanks for sharing Anthony. I did remember purchasing a the master chief statue which was made by a company called kotobuckiya which also produce starwars statues in 1/6 scale. But yes looks like Halo is a no go Thanks again JD
Smiffy
I have one of the Joyride Toys Warthogs. Have been planning on a stripdown, detail, rebuild and repaint job on it. Set it on a nice little base and I think it could look pretty cool. I did also print out a set of Pelican plans in 1/72. Would like to have a go at scratching one in the future (maybe with a Scorpion tank, hanging off the back). Peter Jackson had the rights to make a Halo movie, but it seems he wanted more budget than the studios were willing to part with. A real pity, as I think a well made, big budget Halo film would be a fantastic spectacle on the big screen. Ridley Scott is reportedly involved with a live action short, possibly similar to the ones that have been available on X-Box live.
