Revell Beaufighter

Recommended Posts

Here is one that I think belongs on Britmodeller purely because of the subject.

Only the British could have designed the venerable Bristol Beaufighter.

This is the ancient Revell 1/32 version. I have converted the tail into the later

Version and scratchbuilt an interior. It is roughly to Beau specifications but

Also used some artistic license to make it a bit busier.

I have been working on and off on it. The rocket blast shields have been

Scratchbuild. Almost ready for paint. I hope you like it. I know I do, these

Old kits are still fun to build.

Cheers

Cees

Wow! A great build of an old classic. I like the way you tease us with a Tamiya box in the first picture. The interior detailing looks first class and the use of a straw for the ventilation system is just brilliant.

What colour scheme are you going for? With that colour plastic, a desert scheme would need less paint :)

Regards,

Adrian

Thanks chaps ( Tony, you naught boy).

The exhausts are Quickboost and they are absolutely gorgeous.

I have the Aviaeology decal sheet for LZ451 EE M of 404 RCAF Squadron.

This is a great scheme with heavy weathering and crudely painted on

Invasion stripes.

First brushpainted coat of white. Density will be built up slowly.

No sharp masked stripes on this one.

Cheers

Only a Brit could have designed a Beaufighter, will narrow it down further for you, only a Brit in the South West would have built the Beaufighter. I love the City of Bristol, and this fits the City fine, strong, tough, ugly, workmanlike, full of character, Charismatic, dependable, I love the Bristol Beaufighter.

Enough of that, damn fine work there mate. The work you have done inside is a testament to your patience.

So you have a 1/32 Beau, presumably a 1/48 Lanc, just how big is your display cabinet

Thanks,

Well after the Tempest was finished my display case is full. I have a Manchester which I converted from the Tamiya Lanc,

And a nearly finished Trumpeter Wellington. Space can be a problem but I worry about that later. I simply

Love the Beau. Can't wait to get my hands on the big Lancaster.

Nice job you are making there. I have two of these pending further work. I was given one minus engines, props and cowlings.

Unless I can find spares, I'm tempted to make is as the Duxford restoration 'work in progress' with nothing forward of the firewalls.

Guess you're talking about the HK Lancaster, can't wait and hopefully if it sells well, we'll see the Halifax and Stirling in 1/32 also!

Sorry, was just having a moment there... :)

You don't have to wait too long.

After masking the black stripes were applied by a wide brush. Near the edges a rough finish was

Aimed for. The wings turned out great as does the fuselage. Although some of the white paint

Came off. No problem, this will be retouched, adding to the patchy finish. Also a pic of the aircraft

I am modelling.

This is looking really good! And I like the way you've done your stripes! I have to do some on a couple of kits I'm doing for the D-Day GB so I might well borrow your method!

Kind regards,

Stix

Hi Tony,

I use Revell Aqua, really love these paints. Sometimes shades have to be mixed as they

Don't carry it such as interior grey- green. It sprays great, by brush less so.

Time for an update.

I tried to represent the red doped area around the blast tubes with a brush. Somehow the acrylic reacted with the clear

coat causing it to crack here and there. Exactly what I was looking for. It looks like a rough painted on finish.

Also a pic showing the Invasion stripes with red/ yellow codes.
