Tiger331
Hi Folks, OK…..Here's my potential problem. I'm currently putting together a display base for a presentation piece. The most suitable base (in terms of size) is an IKEA picture frame…..This is because I want to 'sandwich' two cloth patches between the Backing Board and the glass. I then want to put the model on a suitable surface ('concrete ASP') on top of the glass. One of the reasons for putting the model on a surface (rather than directly onto the glass) is to make sure it does not slide around on the board. I figure there are two ways I can do this. Either I can get some suitable material (model railway base material ?) to glue onto the glass surface or spray the glass with a suitable colored paint which I would then seal with a matt varnish. My fear with the former option is that it could de-laminate from the glass surface over time whilst the latter may scratch easily although I think the clear varnish should take care of this ?. Has anyone out there in BM land experienced similar dilemmas and, if so, what would be your advice ?. Many thanks Mark
bhouse
It might be easier to cut a suitable size/shape hole in the picture glass. If you don't feel confident about getting a good result a local glass supplier should take on the challenge. I recently had a circular hole cut into a 20x20cm glass panel so I could fit a cat flap in a door. IT was done while I waited and cost about a £1...
