Tarangus 1/48 SAAB J 32B Lansen

Recommended Posts

Hi

Here are some pictures of my recently completed model of Tarangus 1/48 J 32B Lansen nicknamed Lansen Sport.

I've used every aftermarket item available from Maestro Models for the Lansen and quite a bit of scratchbuilding, mainly in the wheel wells, landing gears and cockpit plus a full length engine intake.

The Tarangus kit requires a bit of TLC but can be made into a real good looking model IMHO.

a full wip can be found here (in swedish) http://www.ipmsstockholm.se/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3276

Fabulous build (and not cheap with all those extras…)!

I love the Lansen – it has appealing lines and still looks very much the business.

The nose gear looks a bit off true vertical, judging from the head-on photo…

Great work, with an artistic eye!

Kind regards,

Joachim

Your right on the nose gear not being 100% straight, even though it's in the correct mounting position, so I'm thinking that the wheel well is slightly of. Unfortunately i didn't see that before it was to late so I'll have to live with it, also it should tilt slightly forward seen from the side. I'll have to make up on that on the next build.

Thank you all very much.

Glad to hear that it's to your liking.

Andrew, good luck with your build, it's not an easy kit to tame but with a bit of patience you can get something good from it.

Nice Lansen!

I have few questions: is it the IRST pod underneath the port wing? Are there any pictures of it or is there information available, which A/C may have been equipped with it? Is it the same pod as used by J 35F2 and J Drakens?

Thanks Marcel.
It's indeed an IR unit part of the sighting system. It was used on J 32B and J 35A. The system on J 35F2 and J was a different one.
I don't think it was mounted att all times an all Lansens, you have to check references and pick one the hade it mounted.

You can see it in this picture
