Which is the diecast model and which is the built kit, i'll assume the kit with all the weapons is the HB kit which looks stunning

Correct yes the HB is the model with all the bombs hanging off of it- diecast shown in first photo above the kit...thanks for the compliment

The bombs are mk83's, aren't they? What's the matter with the extensions at the bomb's tips? Never seen it before....

The camo looks very nice indeed with the blurred transistions.

Bombs are mk 82s with extended air detonation fuses- quite common on A-7's and F-4s during Vietnam and beyond.

Yes you most certainly did - excellent job you've done!

Sell the die-cast! (though you may get much more for the HB kit....!!)

Thanks for showing - nice work.

cheers

Great finish and weathering. You certainly could hang a lot of stuff on that airframe! It must have been a slog to get all that ordnance built and painted.

Hoping to get started on either the Hobby Boss or the Fujimi kit soon. Have you compared the two ?? You did a beautiful job on this one! I'm inspired to start with the Hobbyboss!

Thank you everyone, really humbled by all of the kind comments. It certainly was challenging as a kit not because it was difficult to build, more of a case of all the little bombs, door actuators, multiple stencils and fiddly parts to paint and to look 'operational'. One thing I learned that never put all your faith in the instructions as they can lead you astray a tad- especially when it comes to decal placement. The HB kit is good- can't speak for the Fujimi one, however the skinflints did not provide any cockpit decals/instruments.

One question to everyone -- what is everyone's preferred matt clear coat? I used Humbrol's matt coat and find that it's not truly matt. I read that Gunze paints also are the shades of choice? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Funny thing is I used to think the diecasts were the bees knees...now they're starting to look a little toy like to me....

Thanks all

Sanjay

Great stuff, your weathering and finishing knock the socks off the diecast!

I use Humbrol rattlecan matt varnish :)

Very cool, I prefer the kit although the diecast version does look good too!

Looks fantastic!

They only error is that you added the pave penny pod under the intake. That was a post Vietnam addition to the A-7 fleet.

Otherwise it looks spot on!

Cheers!
