Red Roo Models 1/72 Martin Mariner updates sets

I have started to post images and scans of the Red Roo Models 1/72 Martin Mariner updates sets on AMI.

They are going to be doing a few variants including:

1. Basic upgrade set for the PBM-5A

2. RAF Mariner GR.1

3. RAAF Mariner PBM-3R (Converts Minicraft kit to RAAF transport)

Other variants are planned including PBM-3 and PBM-5 kits for USN aircraft. Apparantly these will be done in conjunction with a US decal producer.

Need to check with Gary & Ed to see it it would be of any use with the Mach2 kit.

Excellent! Just what I'm looking for...and yes; are the RAF GR Mk.1 parts suitable for the Mach2 kit? I suppose any modeller worth their salt would say 'does it really matter', but for me, as I'll be building this for someone else, it really does.

As per my PM to both of you, you don't really need the Red Roo conversion kit to make a Mariner GR.1 from the Mach2 kit. However I would think that the Minicraft kit plus our conversion would give a rather better result though. You can use the RAAF PBM-3R conversion set with the Mach2 kit but you are going to have a few parts duplicated.

just so you know what you are up against. We have built the Minicraft kit and we are quite happy with it

There should be a review and build of the GR.1 on Britmodeller before too long.

Thank you for that information Ed...it looks like this Mach 2 'commission' will be followed by a Minicraft a/c and at least your conversion set. I've actually fallen in love with the type and plan a second in USN or RAAF colours.
