Troy Smith
Today I acquired the old Aurora 1/48th Churchill tank model. Does anyone know how accurate it is to the scale? Also, was it finished in deep bronze green during WW2 ? Carl T Hi Carl neat find, as it's surprisingly good, it was patterned on one at the Aberdeen proving grounds. It's old, so a bit basic, and the tracks are not very good. No aftermarket exist so mud will be your friend [or i will as I'd like another ] if you search 'aurora churchill' on track48, you will find more http://www.network54.com/Forum/433829/ it builds up as MkIII, can be modified into a MkIV or VI with some work, or with more effort, one of the AVRE versions. Colours? NOT Deep Bronze Green. You could do this as desert tank, or a UK based one, or as used in Normanndy if you conver to to MkVI, but mostly you would be looking at a tank in SCC2 Brown, a Normandy tank would probably have been repainted to SCC15 olive drab some info on these paints is here http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234907984-raf-ground-equipment/ A Churchill in SCC2 brown with a Tarmac disruptive pattern over this cheers T
