Dads203
Happy New Year to you all, hope you all had a good one, I certainly did Anyway back to the land of models, a bit more done today on the commander figure, he has had some surgery on his right arm and a brass pin. Any ex Chieftain crews out there ? Hoping that you can tell me if the loader had a CPU for his head set? Or did he plug into a CB2? The Tamiya figures are not bad but they are suffering from mixed radio gear, the loader has a Clansman CPU, the driver and commander have the Larkspur equivalent. This wouldn't of happened in real life as the connectors for the Clansman vehicular harness are different to Larkspur. I have a feeling that the loader should have a Clansman CPU around his neck with the curly cord? Enjoy Dan
Dads203
Here is the modified driver figure, I've removed the Larkspur CPU thingy and strap from around his neck and added a hornet head, he primed and just need the fitting of the headset lead and boom mic. Cheers Dan
Scimitar F1
Great model Dan - just like the one I used to command! The clue is in the name CPU - commander's pressel unit. The connection on the curlywurly had more pins than the standard headset. Will

The connection on the curlywurly had more pins than the standard headset. Will Cheers Will, I was wondering how the loaders headset was plumbed in? As an ex 432 DMI, the commander had the CPU and the driver just plugged into a Crewbox 2 in the drivers compartment next to the masterswitch, I know the flylead on the Crewcover headset is not that long so a loader plugging into a CB2 would mean that he would have an issue standing up out of the hatch, if that makes sense? Scimitar F1
Just checked my album and there is a photo taken of me on the operator's side when out on the Troop Leaders final exercise! I am wearing my Operator's helmet so this backs up the no CPU (one used to disconnect the curlywurly rather than take off the CPU). Over my right shoulder is the control box with a curlywurly going into it so i surmise that this fitted into my pressel unit. Just scanned the photo so PM your email address and i will send it over to you. Will

longshanks
Good pose on the commander, I was a bit worried when you first posted him. He definitely looked a bit effemInate. Looking forward to your usual high standard of painting Kev
Widow 65
Hi folks, Just to add my 2 pence worth..as another ex Armoured bloke. The Loader/operator was "plumbed" into a CB2 using a Pressel on a Curly wurly lead. Cheers

Dads203
Hi Pete, Green coveralls for my crew on this build, I've added a brassard to the loaders arm which isn't yet shown and I'll probably do the same to the commander figure just to add some rank badges. I'll post up some pictures later. Regards Dan

Dads203
Added the brassards to the commander and loader, a qiuck splash of primer to see and bad areas, just waiting for the Green Stuff Epoxy to dry and then it paint. The curly lead is for the commanders CPU. Cheers Dan
Dads203
Final details on the figures, Brassard fitted to the commander, CPU detailed as the Tamiya kit provides the Larkspur version and its missing a few things, it's slightly undersize for a Clansman version but I'll live with that. And the CPU lead added. The loader, Both figure will get the headset leads and Mic's fitted. Regards Dan
Dads203
Not much to report on today, I've added the missing poncho roll Loops onto the commander and loaders 58 pattern belts. I used some lead wire for the loops and green stuff expoxy putty For the webbing strips, photos later. I was just going to paint the crew as is But I felt that these very small details should be added. Now thinking of the diorama base :-) Regards Dan
Dads203
A quick Picture of the tiny amount of work I did today. Those who are familiar with 58 Webbing will know what I mean. And the rank badges lined up for deployment. Hopefully some paint on tomorrow. Please feel free to pass comment, anything that I have missed or could be done better.
