Dads203
Thank you chaps :-) Hopefully today I'll get some paint on the three crew and finish off the details on the tank itself. Not much left to do in terms of construction for the Chieftain but I do want to display it on a base So that will add time to the build. I'll break open my homemade static grass applicator once more and see what I can rustle up. This was the last attempt, Dan
Wogga
Ah the 3rd Shock Army, 1 BR Corps opposition. Lovely dio Dan. We used to monitor them training on the Colbitz training area, NW of Magdeburg. Now like Soltau it is a nature reserve. I wonder what Wolfgang is doing now?

Wolfgang, that a real blast from the past ! He knew our future locations before any of us did, he was always waiting for us when we turned up, how on ever did he get his van to some of them I'll never know :-) great bratties and pommes too
Dads203
Crew painting time, not sure about these so far?1-1 ref pictures,I found my old Crew cover in the garage so I'm going to use it as ref pictures,This old lid of mine has done a fair few miles.onto the figures,The 35th scale version, faces are masked up with bluetac.I wanted to give the coveralls a washed out look, so some slight variation in coloursbetween the crew members. Not convinced yet that they look right, so I might strip and start again, I've only added somebasic shadows into the creases but they are just not doing it for me TBH?Beginning to think that black coveralls would of been easier !RegardsDan
Wogga
Try giving them the brown Norgi look under the coveralls, The belt looks spot on but are you thinking too green?
Widow 65
Ahhhhh, the good old "CrewGuard" helmet, guaranteed to have your ears in pure agony after 30 mins of wearing them....(and thats not even the noise!!)
Dads203
Ahhhhh, the good old "CrewGuard" helmet, guaranteed to have your ears in pure agony after 30 mins of wearing them....(and thats not even the noise!!) Very true, as a 43 driver the mic had a Nasty habit of picking up the hydraulic fan noise and the power pack noise and regenerate the sound in the headset, after 20 mins it was hell on your ears !
longshanks
Like the colour variations. How about some pin washes to break up the areas of green, I'm sure you were dirty little buggers out in the field ;-) Kev
Dads203
Cheers Kev, I'll have a play with them today and see what I can do to tidy them up a bit, I started highlighting the commander last night And he does look a lot better, pictures later :-)
Dads203
So here we are, still thinking about repainting these, I feel that the coveralls are not olive enough? Flesh is just the base cote, trying the AK set and so far I'm not too impressed, the AK paints do not go on the same as Vallejo with a brush. More pictures later. Dads203
Further work, I'm sure it will look better once finished? Most of my figure painting gets stripped a few times before I'm happy with them. Dan

C&WR
Fabulous as ever, Dan. I decided to do mine closed down to avoid having to do the figure work! Pity as the Castoff kit does the insides of the hatches very well. No progress for me, I'm afraid. As expected I worked flat out up to Christmas & had quite a few commitments - in between these I crashed and tried to rid myself of the bug I've been brewing since early November! Widow 65
Excellent!, you've got everything spot on!! But...the Loader should be inside the turret "knocking out some Brews " for the rest of the crew..
