Wolwe82
I was looking for some info about units which were in the air for D-Day and found this page - there is list of all RAF, USAF and even Luftwafe units, flying over Normandy. So maybe it could be helfpul for some more people. http://www.raf.mod.uk/history/Units.cfm

Brews
A photo of a scene following a counterattack by Panzer Lehr on o15 June, 1944. The village of Lingevres was taken by 9 DLI supported by the 4/7th Royal Dragoon Guards and held in the face of counter attacks from three directions by Panzer Lehr. Sgt Harris of the 4/7 was in a Sherman Firefly positioned covering the Western approach along which one German attack was mounted. His tank was to the left of the photo. He destroyed the two panthers seen either side of the road here (probably pushed off the road by a Sherman). The nearest Panther, at least, is probably an Ausf A. This is one of the few photos that I've seen of Panthers in Normandy that have retained their full set of skirt armour. http://www.glcoupar.freeserve.co.uk/battleoflingevres1944/images/lingevres2.jpg In the same action, Trooper Draper, in a Sherman of the 4/7, was awarded a Military Medal. Here is the citation: http://www.glcoupar.freeserve.co.uk/battleoflingevres1944/images/cita.jpg
Brews
The Historic Flight Foundation in Everett, Washington, which shares Payne Field with Boeing and The Flying Heritage Collection, amongst other operators, has a P-51B with invasion stripes. It will be flying today in 4 hrs in a display with the FHC's P-51D, which is a veteran of successful combat with a Me 262. http://historicflight.org/hf/collection/mustang/
