Spitfire LF MK.IXc, ML135, YOD, No.401 Squadron
As flown by Jerry Billing on 7th June 1944

On June 7th 1944, while flying ML135, Jerry Billing downed a Ju 88 bomber and damaged two Fw 190s.

Kit: Eduard 1/48 ProfiPACK edition with replacement Brassin exhausts

I added a few scratch-built items to the cockpit and it's all brush (hairy sticks!) painted with Humbrol and Revell paints.

Juno Beach, Stuart V, First Hussars Canada (6th Canadian Armoured Regiment).

June 7, 1944 - Lt. Smith is wounded by sniper fire while searching out for hidden enemy in the Secqueville area. His brave actions would result in his awarding of the Military Cross.

Somewhere in France, July 1944


Typhoon: Airfix 1/72 Mk.IB Typhoon (new tool version) - as MN526/TP-V - No.198 Sqn., 123 Wing, 84 Group, 2 TAF B10/Plumetot, France - July 1944.

Panther: Dragon 1/72 Ausf G with Zimmerit, as No.135 of 12 SS Pz,

Tiger I: Dragon 1/72 Ausf E with Zimmerit, as No.131 of sSSPzAbt 101

German and British troops from Caesar Miniatures

Baseboard: Softwood, Sundeala, MDF, filler and various leftover scenic materials from model railway projects made many, many years ago.


All painted with Humbrol and Revell acrylics applied by hairy sticks.

Hi all completed build pics.

Type VIIC U-Boat, U-480. coated with Alberich, 9th Flotilla, 2nd patrol. Departed Brest 3/8/14, Arrived Trondheim 4/10/44.

Was in position approx 15 miles SW of Isle of White on 10th August 1944.

Sunk the following SE of Isle of White; 1) HMCS Alberni, corvette 21/8/44.

2) HMS Loyalty, minesweeper 22/8/44.

3) British merchant Fort Yale 23/8/44.

4)British merchant Orminster 25/8/44

Hawker Typhoon Ib


MN630 PR-B, 609 Sqn, RAF Thorney Island, 6 June 1944


The aircraft flew its first ever operational sortie on D-Day. Flown by Flt Lt E.R.A Roberts, it was used in a strike against a radar station at Le Havre. It is depicted just prior to it being armed for that mission.

Finished, almost, at the post!

Managed to finish the AVRE off this afternoon, photo’s taken and posted in time for the GB close tonight.

Looking at the original photo of “Cheetah” on the beach on D-Day, I would assume (as the wounded are lined up alone her track side), that she had either broken down or been knocked out. I've tried to finish her looking as she may have done on D-Day +1, some attempt has been made to get her going that has failed so she has been abandoned. Some kit has been “liberated”, the pioneer tools and kit rolls off the turret.
