thepureness
I'm really starting to get a little annoyed with Hasegawa Decals, is it me or are other peeps finding that their decals are very prone to yellowing, kits i've had in the stash for a year already show signs, while decals sheets i've had in the stash for 10 years are like new. Got out a 1/48 typhoon today to pop on the bench and to my horror the decals do not look even usable, and I can't seem to be able to find any aftermarket ones for bubbletop typhoons
Windy
Some Model Alliance sheets suffer the same, but I know what you mean as it is annoying to have to spend money on extra decals. I have tried taping mine to a south facing window in a poly bag but that does not seem to restore the white.

On older kits, I don't mind, I expect it really, the annoying thing are when you can't find any aftermarket decals to replace them
bentwaters81tfw
My experience of Hasegawa decals is they disintegrate after a time. I have had to resort to aftermarket sheets.
hgbn
My experience of Hasegawa decals is they disintegrate after a time. I have had to resort to aftermarket sheets. I second that. Or at least use some liquid decal film on top of the decals if no aftermarket stuff is available. Be wondering if those UV lights use for hardening nail varnishes could be use to remove the yellowing from the decals??
Black Knight
I use one of those uv lights meant for ladies to do their nails for getting rid of the yellowing on old decals. A lamp can be bought off ebay for as little as £7.99. On very yellow decals it takes about 4 days [sometimes even more] continuous to reduce it, but usually just a couple of days does the job.. Sometimes the yellowing is in the carrier varnish, which the lamp will get rid of, sometimes the yellowing is in the adhesive which the lamp wont affect much, but the adhesive can be washed off. Liquid Decal Film can help save decals which may look to be wanting to break up.
