Been on nights last night, but got up early to meet someone special.

Only found out yesterday that there was a book signing at Tuxford- 2 miles from home, so got up at 2pm and took my 2 children to meet a certain Sqn Ldr G. Johnson👍-britain's last Dambuster!!! On the plus side was another "Dambuster" pilot, (who much to my embarrassment, excitement and lack of sleep) I only remember his first name-Eric, who was the RAF pilot for P- Popsie I'm the film!

It was special for both my family and "Jonnie" as we have a common denominator in that my children's great-great Uncle was P/O Jack Warner, navigator of AJ-K, which was shot down over the Zuider Zee.

When he found out who they were he made a great fuss of them both, told us a few things he knew about Jack had his photo taken with them & a brilliant time was had by all as we where the only people in the shop.

For me a great privilege to finally meet , talk and thank him for what his generation did for ours.

Regards Adrian

How wonderful is that Adrian, to have such a connection and to introduce your children to Sqd Ldr Johnson as well as 'Eric'. It is now becoming a privalage to meet such people as what they acheived many years ago is fast fading into history, I assume your children were full of respect and wonderment towards this 'gentleman of the air'.

I took my soon to see the Mallard steam loco when it came to Grantham this year and we stood on the footplate, I explained to him his connection with this iconic train as his Great Grandad maintained the track during the time of the world record run and he may well have seen Mallard go on to gain this record, that got his attention which is no mean feat.

I saw it on TV and wished I could have been there.
