Had a wee day out doing my other favourite thing taking photos, come back home and Sgt. Zaill has filled my requisition order for one Dodge ambulance. Thanks have to go to radar he is shipping out jeeps piece by piece for me.

In other mash news, a reminder that m means mobile. So think I need to plan the bug out.

I was in the RAF for 14 years, it was a cross between M*A*S*H (all the time) and Kelly's Heroes (Nearly all the time)

So Sgt. Rizzo has woken from his slumber over the weekend and started to do some work in the Motor Pool for a change and has put together some bits of a Dodge Ambulance and also Started some work on a chopper.

The chassis of the Dodge Ambulance is assembled

Also the main floor with seats is ready with other body panels and wheels are all ready.

IMG_20140525_154423_zps4842e5fd.jpg

Rizzo even had time for a quick dry fit of the parts so far.

Think he lost his jack here either that the North Koreans have nicked the wheels.

Not got photos of the Chopper yet as really the work done on it isn't noticeable really it was all small bits. One thing I will say Revell's kit for the Sioux is actually quite decent, the instructions are more a book than the standard couple of sheets of paper also very detailed.

Just having to wait now and get some Olive Drab paint

He was awake for the whole of 5 minutes then went AWOL, currently short of posting him AWOL though. Think its Col, Blake thats running the show just now, works slow, not regulation and well there is no sign of command.

Better fit a speed limmiter though when Col. Potter makes his apperance can't have him getting a speeding ticket.

Radar had the chopper on order, well before I even thought about it.

Good evening from the 4077th, things have been getting on here with the continuation to the Dodge Ambulance and work on a Souix.

First off the Sioux, it is a great kit and going together well, only really have the rotor to paint and fit in other than that it is almost done.

DSC01996_zpscbd8f509.jpg

The start of putting the Sioux together.

DSC02048_zps28469c57.jpg

The engine in place and well major lesson learned from the instructions even though they are good, they have you fitting the exhausts once you have fitted the engine into the tail frame, which I can confirm is almost impossible. I now know so when it comes to the next Sioux fully build engine with exhaust and air intake then fit it into tail frame. I know the paint looks patchy here but thats another lesson learned don't prime in black for this project! Olive drab is difficult to see when painting it on black unless you have a very bright light. Also due to painting in black it has darkened the finish right down.

The Dodge Ambulance is next

Chassis is now fully assembled and painted this picture is its first coat and where I noticed the drab on black issue.

DSC02050_zpsaabe01b7.jpg

The issue of black primer got solved went back to the white to do the main body of the Ambulance, since this photo it has had a 3 or 4 coats of Olive drab and is currently on the window sill getting a chance to dry off, So will upload a photo of that soon.

Really enjoyed this weekend (even though we had a wee outage of the forum, did anyone else notice it, or did we all end up at the modelling desk) as I have got quite a bit done for these two models. Think in all I've spent about 12 hours doing bits for them would have been a lot less if I didn't follow the instructions for the exhausts/air intakes that took the best part of 2/3 hours to resolve as getting the bits in the right place, even with tweezers having the whole tail frame built just didn't give any access really.

Hope to get my foam boards later in the week - I'm looking at insulation boards, they are solid foam and have a metal foil on them but don't see that being a problem, I can get a big 6' x 4' x 6'' board for about £20.

Also I will be getting the Olive Drab in a spray can for the next load of painting, first time I have used Tamiya Acrylics and I'm impressed by them but I have learned that this project will need investment in an Airbrush but that will need to wait until I have saved up enough so a can of spray paint will do well just now.

I was actually watching something else then that came on, I couldn't be bothered to get up and change it.

All you need is a dodgy looking propellor plane with 5 o'clock charlie flying over trying to hit the ammo dump.

I'm looking for a kit of one but not having any luck really can get one in 1/32 but not 1/35.

That scene will make up part of the overall set up, Im planning the main board just now but got a few side projects related to M*A*S*H in the think tank.

Weekly Report M*A*S*H 4077th

Work has been slow here at the 4077th what with this fine weather we have had and also the fact that there has been a serious out break of the cold, yep I decided to get a cold during some of the best weather we have had for a while, there has also been a small matter of a big football tournament going on wonder what the news on that is.

Anyway on with this report.

The first of the choppers is now completed just needs decals to be applied, then some weathering.

DSC02074_zpsf2e69b83.jpg

The main rotor is removed here as its needing a wee tweak to where it mounts to the engine, had to replace the plastic "driveshaft" with a metal pin as it snapped off think this is the only fault I have found with this kit and at that it is unfortunately one of those bits no matter what was done to stop it happening it was going to happen anyway.

The first Dodge Ambulance is also sort of finished, just need to mount the chassis and body together and weather it also add some fine detail once I get a fine detail brush, oh and before some one says about the red crosses being a bit wobbly/not perfect - it was meant mind you it took two attempts to get right and may still get tweaked.

Rear doors

Roof

DSC02076_zps8ee8de15.jpg

I have also started to work on the hill for the helipads, first of collected my hill from a well known builders merchants, one board of insulating foam - cheaper than a board(s) of modelling foam. This board is 8' x 4' x 4''

IMG_20140619_164912_zpsc4dff49b.jpg

First off was chop it in half lengthways so I could get 2 lengths at 8' x 2' to mount together.

IMG_20140619_165615_zps2270fe12.jpg

Then mark it out, I have marked it for two helipads to be on it as I had the room for it and also going by the opening sequence from the show I do believe that the upper pad did have room for two choppers. Also you will see that the garden hose came in handy with this project great for scribing out the curves.

DSC02164_zps33d32b72.jpg

The first few cuts to remove some of the bulk. At this point I had a visit from General Bartford Hamilton-Steele and his waste rant. All the cuttings are saved for other parts of this project.

IMG_20140621_152920_zps62f3487e.jpg

Some smoothing out and contouring as well as forming the access road.

IMG_20140621_160743_zpsa94a03d9.jpg

I soon got into it and before I knew where I was I had the whole hill carved out in just under 6 hours

DSC02182_zps7d59944c.jpg

I've covered it with newspaper soaked in a wallpaper paste mix a very watery mix first was loads of strips of newspaper and then some full sheets to bind the added on parts.

DSC02183_zpsbb12ddfb.jpg

Next stage is wait for my hill to dry out then coat it with PVA and another layer of paper before priming it - unsure what to use, was thinking some basic white poster paint or something similar.

How you like the bell helo ?

I'm doing the same model ,but as a gunship . . Mine has fought me since the start .

I almost finished

yours looks good so far

Rick

Actually really enjoyed the build, only issue I had was with the rotors that I have described above, other than that I'm happy, I've done no more work on the project this week, been busy, had Armed Forces Day, so was out at that all day. Think I will get back into the chopper this week, I should have a wee bit free time.

I bet the neighbours are going daft

trying to guess what you are doing!

It's not a shelf, Too big for a fishtank,

It's a weird rockery, it's......

It's a weird rockery, it's......not a shrubbery...it's THE HALLS (demesne) OF Nee!

All I can advise is that you reassure the neighbours that you're not making a suicide-back pack; otherwise an anti-terrorist armed response op will blow Mash to Smash! :)

Now that looks superb...and we can all see tree stumps. But once again infofrog that is very good!! I think 10/10 -positive!

(I know I've added this later, but...I'd love to see some closer shots because I think from this distance she's perfect - I'm a quarter way through an RM Sioux in the Radfan - yeah 2015 is going to be a bugger for weird types.)

Once more, the closer I've looked the more I like...well done! :)

Been kind of slow on the development of this, work and well just not finding the time due to the good weather we have had.

Only thing I can say is the Hill for the base is sculpted and covered in newspaper, brought it into the house and well lets just say its now booked in for major surgery as with it being 7 foot long it is way to big to be practical, kind of thought that when I made it but only noticed it when I went to start the painting process, luckily though I have designed it so I can chop around 18 inches off it and it will not really effect the looks of the actual main base.

Hope to get that done before the end of the month but kind of landed another project that is an emergency, thanks to a website and forum I moderate deciding that its going to close earlier than was planned so now I have to rush through my replacement.
